Her days of backyard breeding are over, now she waits for her happily ever after to begin…
Before you get wrapped up in her beautiful eyes and adorable face, there a few things you should know about Chelsea.
Her history is not one that any pup would envy. Chelsea was part of an unwanted litter. Her humans didn’t get rid of her, or turn her over to the shelter. Instead they let the entire litter roam the property. They weren’t invited inside, they were just there because they existed and the humans couldn’t be bothered doing anything else with them. Throughout her first year of life she has had minimum contact with humans, no social skills, no confidence, and just lived amongst her canine family. Predictably this led to more pregnant dogs, one of them being Chelsea. Finally after much convincing Chelsea and her siblings were surrendered.
Most people assume because of how she looks Chelsea embodies the goofy labby personality. She is actually a very shy timid pup. It takes her time to build a bond with humans. Chelsea thrives in a stable low key environment where she can decompress and build her confidence. She doesn’t need humans that will force themselves on her, but ones that have the patience to let her warm up at her own pace. Once this happens Chelsea becomes a great companion pup. Another canine in the home isn’t necessary but she sure would enjoy it, and it may make the transition into a new environment a bit easier on her. Feline friends seem to be tolerable too. She is respectful of them inside the home. Her training skills have been almost perfected aside from leash skills. The leash still seems to be a bit intimidating. While Chelsea has been great with these skills in her foster home there is a very good chance she could regress when entering a new home.
