Good afternoon all....i apologize for not posting about our 50/50...I got a text message last week, from one of our adopters who's also a kennel mgr and trainer in one of the shelters we pull from in SC....when I saw this dog that she wanted us to help, I lost it....no doubt that you have to have thick skin in order to do this job… And after doing this for 13+ years, my skin is pretty thick however, this dog broke my heart! I couldn't believe what a cruel world he was living in it… One of the things that is truly important to me is making sure that a dog has a good life, and if they aren't going to be provided a good life, then they need to be humanely put down… After seeing him and reading his medical, there was no doubt in my mind that this poor thing was living in an incredible amount of pain on a daily basis, and was going to live a very difficult life… So I spoke with Val at length, and told her that I think the most humane thing that can happen is that he be euthanized… We talked for several days, and she made sure that he was given the most amount of pain meds that he could tolerate, and made sure that he got an abundant amount of treats, and today I got a text message from her stating that she was there with him while he passed… this was a hard one for me! Probably one of the hardest ones I've ever had to deal with for as long as we've had this organization… However, I am beyond thankful, that not only did Val respect, an honor what I was telling her, but she did everything for this sweet boy! Sometimes when you are in this field, and you see dog after dog after dog, you become immune to your feelings, and I am so thankful that she did not… She made sure that he was comfortable, and at the very end, she made sure that he knew that not all humans are pieces of trash! I so wish I could've been with her and by Max side , but I am so beyond grateful to her that she made sure he was loved even if it was for a few days! Thank you, Val, truly thank you for making sure that Max knew love!
Unfortunately, we did not hit anywhere near our 50-50 raffle, and I am just completely and totally devastated that we didn't get anywhere near what we were asking… I'm going to put up our platforms with the hopes that people will continue to give as we still need to pay off the two incredibly generous people who helped us with smoky! Whatever amount you can give, we would greatly appreciate it!
Additionally, I asked that everybody please like and share this post, and if you could spare 15 seconds to please like and share Zelda's post, so that we can get some traction and stay up with the Facebook algorithms, so that we can get her adopted!
For now, I just need a break for today… As much as I was so brokenhearted to see that this poor thing was in the incredible amount of pain he was in, I'm so thankful that Max is now pain-free and running with so many of our dogs at the rainbow bridge! RIP sweet boy!!
