Heads Up.. WAAY UP!!

🚀 The Kopernik Observatory & Science Center plans to launch its student high-altitude balloon on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, between 10:00 and 10:30 AM EDT (1400–1430Z), with an expected altitude of more than 100,000 feet!

Amateur radio operators can track the balloon on [APRS.fi](https://aprs.fi/) using callsign K2ZRO-11 and receive SSTV images on 145.600 MHz using Martin 1 mode throughout the flight.

Last year, signals were received across the Northeast, Canada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland. Please send received SSTV images and signal reports to [email protected] so they can be shared with the participating students. Tune in, track the flight, and help demonstrate how altitude expands VHF coverage!
