The Cat Connection We rescue stray and abandoned cats! See more about us below. In our adoption program we work to locate new homes for stray and abandoned cats and kittens.

The Cat Connection is an almost all volunteer (one employee) 501(c)(3) nonprofit no-kill organization whose primary mission is to rescue abandoned, abused, unwanted, stray, neglected, and injured cats, and to facilitate their adoption into responsible permanent homes. The second part of our mission is to control the feral cat population through our Trap-Neuter-Return-Maintain (TNRM) program and through the trapping and socialization of feral kittens. The Cat Connection works to end the growth of the feral population through TNRM, or Trap-Neuter-Return-Maintain, programs in many local communities including Waltham, Newton, Belmont, Brighton, Allston and Watertown, Massachusetts. We provide food, medical attention, and – when space allows – temporary shelter in one of our foster homes, while we work to find permanent placement with responsible, loving families. Our foster parents provide a safe and loving environment for these homeless animals. And because our cats are fostered in private homes we can offer insight into their personalities - whether they will be good with children, dogs, other cats, etc. The Cat Connection is not a shelter, but there are occasions when we are asked to take cats from their owners for a variety of reasons. We can offer advice, but limited resources prevent us from accepting all of these cats into our care. We may at times be able to assist in seeking new homes if the present owners are able to assist us with housing the cat in need of a new home until we find one.

Hello! A member of our community found this 3 year old female cat on 10/10 outside in Waltham. Please help us in spreading the word and send us a DM with information (details below on the cat 👇)

She appears to have an owner but was not found with a microchip. She is a tabby mix with coloring being grey and orange with black stripes and brown toe pads.

She has been inspected by a vet and is currently being cared for as we try to find her owner. She is very friendly. We'd like to find her owner to get her back to her home 💜.

Meet Caesar, a 2-year-old gentle giant who has come all the way from Qatar to share his big heart with a lucky forever family! 🩷

This handsome tabby boy is sweet, affectionate, and charming. He’s curious and active, enjoying playtime and climbing to new heights. More than anything, Caesar loves to “hug” his purrson and snuggle up with them on the bed.

This resilient boy has been through a lot in his young life, but he is now considered healthy. Caesar overcame dental issues that required teeth extraction, and he is also FIV+. With proper care, FIV-positive cats can enjoy long, happy lives, and FIV-positive and FIV-negative cats can also safely live together.

🖤 From Shy Shadows to Cherished Companions: Squash & Gravy’s Happy Tail! 🖤

Every rescue story has its own unique timeline, but few transformations are as heartwarming to watch as those of quiet, sensitive souls finding their groove.

Meet Squash and Gravy—two beautiful, 2-year-old bonded sisters whose journey from cautious wallflowers to beloved family members is officially a success story. 🩷 When Squash and Gravy first came into rescue, they had experienced very little, if any, human interaction and were extremely shy. Thanks to the dedicated care and endless patience of their foster family, these sweet girls began to bloom.

We knew they had to be adopted together. As a bonded pair, Squash and Gravy share a special dynamic: Gravy’s natural curiosity helps Squash warm up to new things much faster. They just needed a quiet, calm home and a special, patient adopter who would give them the time they needed to thrive.

Three weeks ago, that exact forever home became a reality! Now, three weeks post-adoption, Squash and Gravy are flourishing, and their adopter couldn't be happier with their progress.

Gravy has completely stepped into the spotlight! She is out and about 100% of the time, officially claiming her role as a devoted shadow and a full-time lap cat. Wherever her human is, Gravy is right there offering purrs and companionship.

Squash is following closely in her sister's brave footsteps! She is out, about, and exploring 75% of the time, growing braver and more confident every single day. Her adopter is thrilled with her steady progress and loves watching her gain confidence step by step.

Squash and Gravy are proof that with patience, understanding, even the shyest cats can blossom into extraordinary family members. We are so grateful to their foster family for starting them on this path and to their wonderful adopter for opening their heart and home to this gentle pair.

Congratulations to Squash, Gravy, and their forever family—may your peaceful home be filled with endless purrs, cuddles, and love for many years to come. 💕

At 2 years old, this beautiful black cat duo has begun an incredible transformation. When they first arrived, they were shy and unsure after limited human interaction. Thanks to the loving patience of their foster family, they've blossomed into sweet, affectionate companions who are now ready for their forever home.

Yam is a total people-cat who's eager to be your devoted shadow! He adores his humans, often sleeping at the foot of the bed and gently licking their hands to ask for more affection. Cranberry took a little longer to come out of her shell, but she's now a loving sweetheart who actively seeks out pets and cuddles. She's a purr machine who offers the sweetest reward to anyone willing to give her time and understanding.

Yam and Cranberry are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They're looking for a quiet, calm home—without children or other pets—where they can continue to grow and thrive.
