A short time ago, we reached out to our community asking for your support in voting for Burn Survivors of New England in the Watertown Savings Bank Customer Choice Awards.

We were incredibly honored to be selected as one of 38 local nonprofit organizations recognized for the work being done throughout our communities. Sitting in a room alongside so many passionate organizations and hearing the stories behind their missions was both inspiring and humbling.

While we did not take home the top prize, we are deeply grateful to Watertown Savings Bank for their generosity and commitment to supporting not only our organization, but all 38 nonprofits involved.

Because of this gift, organizations like ours are able to continue providing connection, peer support, resources, and hope to burn survivors and their loved ones throughout New England.

Thank you to everyone who voted, supported, and continues to believe in the work we do. Community truly makes healing possible. 🧔

National Nurses Week | May 6–12 🧔

At Burn Survivors of New England, we know that the work of a nurse extends far beyond the walls of a hospital room. Burn survivors and their families often form deep connections with the nursing teams who help guide them through some of the most difficult moments of recovery.

Here in our local burn community, our nursing teams remain visible, supportive, and committed to ongoing communication on how to continue bridging the gap between medical care and long-term healing. Their dedication helps ensure that survivors and loved ones continue to feel seen, supported, and connected to valuable resources and peer support beyond acute care.

Burn care nurses carry tremendous emotional and physical responsibilities, yet continue to show up each day with compassion, patience, skill, and humanity. They care not only for physical injuries, but for the emotional well-being and dignity of every patient and family they encounter.

During National Nurses Week, we honor and thank the incredible nurses who continue to make a lasting impact within the burn community. Your care, compassion, and commitment are deeply appreciated and never forgotten.

With gratitude,Burn Survivors of New England

Today, May 4th, we honor International Firefighters’ Day.

We take a moment to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in the line of duty — and to recognize those who continue to show up every day to protect our communities, our homes, and our lives.

For many in the burn survivor community, firefighters are often the first faces we encounter in moments that change everything. Their courage, compassion, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

Today, and every day, we thank you. ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

✨ What You’ll Experience at the Healing Summit ✨

August 14–15, 2026 | Waltham, MA

Friday begins simply.

Not with a program.
Not with a presentation.

But with people.

The Welcome Gathering is a space to reconnect — to hug, to sit, to talk.

Like old friends finding their way back to each other.

Because what many burn survivors value most isn’t a session or a resource — it’s connection.

It’s catching up on life…
the things that don’t always get talked about in recovery. School. Marriage. Family. Work.

The everyday moments that matter just as much as healing.

Saturday shifts.

We come together with intention
to look at the full reality of life after burn.

Not just the day-to-day,
but the social, emotional, and physical layers that continue long after the hospital.

Through shared conversation and practical tools, you may find something you didn’t know you needed — for where you are right now.

There will also be space to hear from one another —not about what happened, but about the moment you chose to move forward… and what it took to begin living again.

We close in remembrance.

Not only for those we’ve lost,
but in recognition of what it means to carry forward.

To live fully.
To live intentionally.
To live the one life we’re given.

Because burn survivors are not defined by what happened to them.

They are people living full lives —
with scars that tell a story of resilience, strength, and possibility.

If this feels like a space you’ve been looking for, we invite you to join us.

Last Saturday, we visited the Station Nightclub Memorial Park.

It meant a lot to see members of our Massachusetts community travel to Rhode Island to stand alongside others who remember this day so deeply.

Grateful the weather held and for the time shared together. šŸ’™
