We're a grassroots organization committed to building Healthy, Caring, Responsible Citizens.

• Education about the proper and legal ways to dispose of unwanted drugs is key to keeping them out of the hands of those who will abuse them. Toward this end we are distributing brochures supplied by the Department of Consumer Protection that explain the correct way to handle these drugs while using them, and proper disposal of unused afterwards.
• We are advocating for widespread training and distribution of NARCAN, a counteracting drug that can save the life of someone who is in an overdose state from op**te use.
• We are working to eliminate the drug paraphernalia from sight at local retail stores.
• We have started a professionally facilitated peer based support group called Hope and Support, to help parents understand the dangers and deal with drug abuse and addiction. It meets every Monday night at the Yalesville United Methodist Church from 7 to 8:30 PM. During Covid - Virtually.
• We are working to improve the relationship between the community and the school system to create a partnership to more effectively educate the kids about the science of addiction and the effects of drug abuse.
• We are working with town and state officials to support public policies that allow us to better control all aspects of this problem.
• We are speaking to organizations from around the state and throughout the country about ways to reduce and eliminate this problem of drug abuse.
• We are working with the Office of Healthcare Advocates to help residents protect your healthcare rights.

Hello all! Here is the flyer for our next Narcan training. It will be held on Tuesday, October 27th at the Wallingford Senior Center at 6:00pm. If you have a fun costume you’re excited to share, feel free to wear it to the training! Costumes are encouraged.

Narcan will be handed out to participants following the training. If a person under 18 years old would like to get trained, parent permission is required— comment or message us and we can send over the permission slip.

🎨 Celebrate Wallingford is this weekend, and the Coalition will be there! 🇺🇸✨

Stop by our tent for some fun face painting for the kids (and young at heart!) while supporting a great cause. This year, we are showing our deep appreciation for our local Wallingford Veterans, and we need your help!
We are collecting donations at our tent to support our heroes:

🛍️ Toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.)

💳 Gift Cards (grocery stores, general retail, restaurants, gas, visa/master, etc.)

Every little bit goes a long way in saying "thank you" for their service to our country and community.

🎨@ Join Us for FREE Prevention Art Class This Saturday! 🍂

We’re back with two fun, hands-on projects for our youth this weekend—and best of all, it's completely FREE to attend!

At the Coalition, prevention is all about providing young people with safe, supportive spaces, healthy outlets for creative self-expression, and positive connections with peers and community mentors.

Here is what we have planned:

🍁 Elementary Group: Getting into the seasonal spirit by making colorful Fall Garlands to celebrate autumn!

🧶 Older Kids Group: Launching Crochet Class #1! Beginners and returning creators alike will learn fundamental stitches to kick off a brand-new project.

🇺🇸 Supporting Those Who Served: The Veterans Appreciation Campaign 🇺🇸

The Coalition for a Better Wallingford is proud to announce the launch of our Veterans Appreciation Campaign! Our goal is to express our deep appreciation to local Veterans by providing them with customized Thank You bags packed with essentials, retail/food/gas or Visa/Master gift cards, and vital health resources.

To help keep our Veterans and their families safe, every bag will include:

- Narcan for emergency overdose prevention

- A secure Medicine Lock Bag for safe medication storage

- A Deterra Bag for environmentally safe, at-home drug deactivation and disposal

We need your help to make this campaign a success. Every donation directly funds these bags and gift cards and shows our brave service members that Wallingford stands with them.
