TAP's mission is to increase awareness of prejudice and discrimination and examine its causes and roots; open dialogue with and between students and educators; and promote understanding and respect for all. Through the critical exploration and analysis of films, television, and other media, TAP works on all issues of discrimination whether based on race, religion, disability, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or body image.

"I was far from politics, but I realised that the world had not learned any lessons from the events of 1939 to 1945, that wars continued, that persecution, racism, intolerance still existed. And then I began to share my experience, to call for changes in the world."

To our great sorrow, Eva Schloss-Geiringer has passed away on 3 January 2026 at the age of 96 in London.

Let all who are hungry come and eat. Rabbi Michael Lerner wrote this commentary back in 2015.

What makes this year’s Passover Seders unlike any others is that a majority of American Jews have been forced to face the fact that Palestinians today are asking Jews what Moses asked Pharaoh: “Let my people go.” The Israeli elections, and subsequent support for Prime Minister Netanyahu’s op...

The recent horrific deaths in Israel/Palestine are reminiscent of the 9-11 attacks and their wake 22 years ago. Our founder Elise Klein's words at that time are still relevant: "Those people that did this are responsible; those people that would follow in their footsteps are potentially responsible; but not everybody that has a certain skin color or has a certain native language is responsible."

Elise Klein, founder of Teachers Against Prejudice, was interviewed on November 1, 2001, on WGCH radio in Greenwich, CT. In the wake of the September 11 atta...

Everyone is talking about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Academy Awards. But here is a more iconic Hollywood slap (Sidney Poitier in the Best Picture of 1967):

8-year-old Alexander from Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine, won Honorable Mention in TAP's 2018 art contest. He described his drawing: "Foods bring joy and put our hearts together. (My food is for you. Your food is for them. It is for our world. It is for our peace.)"

Let us exchange food, not bombs, in the world.

Less than two weeks after the passing of Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, we have lost iconic Bahamian-American actor Sidney Poitier. So many of his films addressed questions of prejudice and race relations, including A Raisin in the Sun, A Patch of Blue, In the Heat of the Night, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. He played a high school student in Blackboard Jungle, and a teacher in To Sir, with Love. We also recommend his autobiography, The Measure of a Man.

Poitier established himself as one of the greatest performers of all time and was the first Black man to win an Academy Award.
