🇺🇸 National Day of the Deployed 🇺🇸

Today, DAV California proudly honors the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who are serving far from home, defending our freedoms and answering our nation’s call to duty.

We also recognize the families who carry the weight of their absence, making sacrifices of their own while awaiting the safe return of their loved ones.

To all those currently deployed, and to every Veteran who has served far from home: Your service, courage, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed.

From all of us at DAV California, thank you for your service. May you return home safely. 🇺🇸

Locally, our community can support and help us fundraise through our upcoming Pancake Breakfast! We still have tickets available and would love to sell more than last year's breakfast!

Comment "Pancakes" if you want to support our cause!

Heroes on the Move for Saturday, October 24 is cancelled.

Our Auxiliary Commander, who is also the Department Jr Vice, Claudia Overson was tasked with swearing in and installing new Auxiliary Officers for Unit 82 in Santa Maria. Way to go Commander!

See you next Saturday, October 31!

10/22/2026

On Monday, DAV Chapter 92 and Auxiliary leaders joined DAV California State Commander Jose Mendoza at a press conference hosted by DAV Chapter 12 California supporting Congressmen Pete Aguilar and Mark Takano for a special celebration recognizing the progress of the Major Richard Star Act (H.R. 2102) and recognizing the discharge petition reaching the 218 congressional signatures needed to bring the bill to a House vote.

This legislation would allow combat-injured, medically retired Veterans to receive both their earned military retirement pay and VA disability compensation without the current dollar-for-dollar offset.

Representing our DAV 92 family were:
⭐ Chapter Senior Vice Commander Martha White-Agbenu
⭐ DAV Auxiliary Department of California Junior Vice Commander and Unit 92 Commander Claudia Morales Overson
⭐ DAV Member Steve Clark

Reaching 218 signatures is an important step forward, but it does not make the bill law. House passage, Senate approval, and the President’s signature are still needed.

Our Veterans have earned these benefits through service and sacrifice. We will continue advocating until this legislation becomes law.

Contact your members of Congress and urge them to support passage of the Major Richard Star Act!

Busy Saturday for 92 indeed! Our Auxiliary team, led by new Unit Commander Claudia Overson, hosted a resource table at the annual Sun City Cruisers Car Show in Apple Valley! We shared useful information, our pancake breakfast flyer and met many Veterans and supporters from the High Desert! We also had Veterans join DAV on the spot or sign up to get our upcoming newsletter!

If you know of any Veterans who might need benefits assistance or would like to meet other Veterans, please think of us!

DAV helped out at Spring Valley Lake with a table chip giveaway for their poker run. Had a good time and glad to help out. We even got a new sign up out of it! 🇺🇸

First, our Heroes on the Move walk, then the auxiliary team will be at the Sun City Cruisers car show, and the chapter team will be at the Spring Valley Lake yacht clubs, poker run.
