This Juneteenth, we recognize the earliest documented African-American Boy Scout Troop, established a year after Scouting America's founding in 1911, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Five years later, in 1916, Troop 75 in Louisville, Kentucky, became the first official Council-sponsored Troop.

New York Knicks guard Josh Hart is an official Eagle Scout. Raised in Maryland, he was a member of Troop 1083 in Rockville and balanced his basketball commitments to earn Scouting’s highest rank just a week before his 18th birthday!

The best memories won’t come from your screen, enjoy the outdoors with scouting!

Newhall Troop 609 Scouts went backpacking and trout fishing in the Southern Sierra Wilderness along the Pacific Crest Trail for three days.

They found lost fishing sites, practiced catch-and-release with barbless hooks, explored the old corners of the map, and chatted with long-distance trekkers.

One said that it’s great to see that these kids will be our future!

Los Scouts de la Tropa 609 de Newhall fueron de mochilero y a pescar truchas en el sur de la Sierra Wilderness a lo largo del Pacific Crest Trail durante tres días.

Encontraron sitios de pesca perdidos, practicaron la captura y liberación con anzuelos sin púas, exploraron las viejas esquinas del mapa y charlaron con excursionistas de larga distancia.

¡Uno dijo que es genial ver que estos niños serán nuestro futuro!
