Dear Ararat, Charter School Community, it is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Silva Karayan, a long time and deeply valued member of our school family.
Dr. Karayan began her relationship with Ararat in 2009 and joined the ACS governing board in 2010. For 13 years, until June 2023, she served our school with dedication, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to our students, families, staff, and Community. With a distinguished background in higher education and service learning, Dr. Karayan brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to Ararat.
Education was not simply her profession, it was a calling that was deeply woven into her life and her family‘s legacy. She understood the transformative power of education and believed deeply in creating opportunities for students to learn, grow and thrive.
Ararat has lost a valued leader, advocate, and friend. On behalf of the entire ACS Administration, Governing Board and Community, we extend our deepest condolences to Dr. Karayan‘s family and loved ones. May they find comfort in knowing how deeply she was respected, appreciated, and loved by the many people whose lives she touched.
May her memory be a blessing.
