🏡 From Housing Insecurity to a Place to Call Home: Ira’s Success Story! 💙
At ONEgeneration, we believe every older adult deserves the opportunity to age with dignity, stability, and independence.
Meet Ira, an older adult who was on the brink of losing his longtime residence as rising housing costs made it increasingly difficult to afford rent on his limited Social Security income.
Through ONEgeneration’s innovative LA ADU Accelerator Program a partnership with Los Angeles Housing Department, Ira became the first older adult to move into a local Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), made possible through a dedicated community homeowner. This temporary housing solution provided Ira with a safe, stable place to live while working closely with his dedicated Housing Navigator to secure permanent affordable housing. During this transition, Ira also remained connected to ONEgeneration’s comprehensive community-based programs and services, supporting his health, well-being, and independence.
🎉 Today, we are thrilled to share that Ira has officially secured permanent affordable senior housing! Ira’s journey demonstrates the power of innovative, preventative solutions to older adult homelessness. By providing stable transitional housing, personalized navigation, and access to essential supportive services, we can help vulnerable older adults avoid homelessness while maintaining their dignity, quality of life, and connection to their community.
