π How can you help someone you care about who may be experiencing domestic violence?
You don't have to have all the answers.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is listen.
Believe them. Avoid judgment. Let them know that what is happening to them matters and that they deserve to be safe.
Instead of asking, βWhy don't you just leave?β consider saying:
π βI believe you.β
π βI'm concerned about your safety.β
π βHow can I support you?β
Leaving an abusive relationship can be complicated, and safety planning may be important. Supporting someone means respecting their choices while helping them find appropriate resources.
Listen. Support. Believe.
A compassionate conversation may be the beginning of someone's journey toward safety and healing.
