Week 21 of the District 1 Volunteer Fire Academy focused on fire inspections and drafting operations.

This week, recruits learned how investigators document what they document and how to walk into a scene and know what to look for. They also practiced drafting operations, learning how to establish a water supply from ponds, lakes, and other sources when hydrants aren't available, which can often be the case in rural environments.

Members of the Porter County Emergency Management Agency were out at the MAAC Foundation yesterday conducting Hazmat Decon Training, sharpening the skills and coordination needed to respond safely and effectively during hazardous materials incidents.

Training like this helps ensure first responders are prepared to protect both their teams and the communities they serve. We’re proud to provide realistic training environments where agencies can practice these critical operations together!
