This Saturday, May 23rd, Valley Center Youth Wrestling was honored to once again join our community for the 76th Annual Valley Center Western Days Parade.

Memorial Day weekend is a time to pause and remember those who gave all. We also honor veterans and active-duty service members, and recognize the many community servants who continue to show up with courage, commitment, and love for others.

VCYW was founded by families who served, and we are deeply honored and thankful for those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today.
“All gave some. Some gave all. We remember them.”

Thank you to for another beautiful community tradition, and thank you to every service member, veteran, first responder, public servant, volunteer, and family who helps make this community what it is.

What started as a vision… is becoming something powerful.

A year ago, we began building the Fierce and Fearless Female Initiative with a goal to create more opportunity, more support, and more space for girls in wrestling. Today, we’re proud to officially share it with you… along with the initiative's new logo.
🐆
This initiative is designed to support and elevate female wrestlers through:
• Clinics
• Mentorship
• College pathway guidance
• Scholarship opportunities
But more than that… we’re building belief.
Because confidence doesn’t just happen, it’s developed, supported, and fought for.

Our goal is simple: to create access, build confidence, and develop strong, empowered young women, on and off the mat.
And this is only the beginning.

We’re incredibly thankful for the amazing role models and mentors who have helped guide us along the way, from and , who shared her excitement of our Jaguar mascot and reminded us of the deeper meaning behind them,
to at and her professional guidance,
at and at .fit for their guidance in practices, warm-ups, and conditioning and so much more.

These strong women have been powerful examples, and we are truly grateful to walk this path with their influence before us and their support behind us.

Laugh. Smile. Learn. 💥
At VCYW, we believe learning doesn’t just look like repetition, it looks like connection, confidence, and joy in the process. 🖤💛💙

We build strong fundamentals, create a love for wrestling, and develop mindset strength from an early age.

At the same time, we focus on total athleticism: agility, plyometrics, tumbling, and movement, alongside traditional wrestling training.

We use games as a tool, not just for fun, but for learning. (Thank you & .fit ) Because when kids are laughing and smiling, they’re engaged, and that’s when things really start to stick.

We also hold high standards. We emphasize intention over just going through the motions, and we expect our wrestlers to show up with focus, respect, and purpose every time they step on the mat.

This Folkstyle to Freestyle Transition Series throughout March has been such a great experience for the kids and for us as coaches.

As we head into our final week, it’s been incredible to watch the growth in this room.

To those who have transitioned into their spring sports, we miss you, and we’re proud to see you becoming well-rounded athletes!

And to those still with us, let’s finish strong. 💪🐾

Today we celebrate the inaugural National Women Coaches Day (3/7), created by in partnership with to recognize, support, and elevate women in coaching across all levels of sport.

The date 3/7 honors the 37 words of Title IX, a reminder of both the progress made in women’s athletics and the continued need to develop and support women leaders in sport.

Through our Fierce & Fearless female initiative, we are committed to expanding opportunities for girls in wrestling and building pathways for leadership, mentorship, and confidence both on and off the mat.

We are proud to recognize Coach , .tabetha , and Coach for the time, knowledge, and leadership they continue to invest in our female initiative, growing women’s wrestling throughout North County. Through clinics, mentorship, and collaboration across programs, they are helping create stronger athletes and stronger leaders for the next generation.

Your dedication reflects exactly what this day represents: women supporting women, building community, and shaping the future of sport.
Fierce. Fearless. And leading the way.

Freestyle Transition Series – Session 1 💥

We had a blast kicking off our Folkstyle to Freestyle Transition Series on Monday, March 2nd with this amazing group. 🖤💛💙

We jumped right in by talking through the rules and key differences between the two styles, then got the room moving with some fun freestyle throw & roll techniques!

Tonight we’re bringing it back to the basics — working through par terre positions and foundational freestyle control to help our wrestlers understand scoring opportunities and how to move with intention on top.

Excited to see everyone back in the room tonight at 6PM at the school as we keep building! 💪
