It is with a heavy heart that we share that our dear Liz Jamieson-Dunne, has transitioned to her next journey.

Liz, Vice President of the Heartsteps Board of Directors, was also a founding member. Her heart and soul was grounded in her love of Africa, particularly the women and girls of Kenya, and especially the village of Samburu.

Liz was a champion of women’s rights in Kenya, the empowerment of village girls to pursue their studies, and for the installation of water wells to sustain the parched Kenyan communities through the Samburu Project.

Liz saw the potential in a young Kenyan woman, Sandra, and sponsored and encouraged her studies. Sandra is now thriving in an administrative position in an office, that would never have been possible, had Liz not noticed her, and saw for her a brighter future.

This is who Liz Jamieson-Dunne was. She saw the light and potential in all those she encountered. She brought hope and love to children, women, and entire communities all over the world.

We have endless thanks for Liz — her compassion, leadership, friendship, and support of Heartsteps Foundation. Her work, and her incomparable spirit, will live on in the continued outreach Heartsteps Foundation does.

Fly high, dear Liz!
