Lt. Dan Walker
DOB: 8/2015
EOW: 1/4/2024
This is how I picture them now. Dan reunited with his dog, Pilot.
We said goodbye to Dan on Thursday of this past week.
My heart is broken and so, so sad, to put it mildly. But looking back at his life, damn it was awesome!
Dan came to us as an older kitten from TJ.
He frequently travelled to work with me at Into the Sunset, where he helped Pilot greet animal patients and clients.
He passed his test to become a therapy cat for Helen Woodward’s Pet Encounter Therapy program. There, he visited kids, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and became known for his bedside hospice visits.
Dan also worked with me when I began teaching at Pima Medical Institute. There, he taught new students how to work with and restrain a cat. His favorite skill test was the pilling exercise, because we used little bits of pill pockets as the “pills” to be administered - yum!
Dan could read people really well, climb any piece of furniture even without hind legs, and run really fast! He adapted to any strange situation I put him in and took on any challenge.
His oncology visits often took longer than expected because he was visiting with his favorite techs and vets - and eating churu’s!
Dan Walker, you stand out as a pretty amazing cat. Thank you for being a part of our family ❤️
Life was better because you were in it; it won’t be the same without you 😭🌈
