URGENT LETTER FROM SOLANO LAND TRUST CEO NICOLE BRADDOCK. TODAY AT 2PM SOLANO COUNTY SUPERVISORS WILL MEET TO DISCUSS THE COLLINSVILLE SHIPYARD PROPOSAL. PLEASE READ AND ACT.
Dear Friend of Solano Land Trust,
For forty years, Solano Land Trust has worked to protect the character of Solano County: our working farms and ranches, our water, our wildlife habitat, our open landscapes, and the distinct communities that call this county home. Tuesday, August 25th at 2 p.m., the Board of Supervisors will take up a bill that puts some of that at risk, and we need your voice before they do.
The bill, now called the Solano Maritime and Manufacturing Act, advances a large shipyard at Collinsville, and it does so in a way that should concern every one of us. It overrides Measure T, the initiative Solano County voters first approved in 1984 (and have renewed several times since, most recently as Measure T in 2008) to make sure our community has a say in how growth happens here. This bill would allow the shipyard project to rely on an environmental review which is nearly two decades old and was never intended to examine how a project of this scale could affect the air we breathe, the water we drink, or the wildlife that depends on this land.
Everyone deserves clean air and clean water, and Solano's voter-approved growth protections shouldn't be overridden without a real look at what it means for our air, water, and wildlife.
Your supervisor needs to hear from you before Tuesday.
This isn't about being anti-development. Solano Land Trust supports housing, jobs, and economic growth which are balanced with protection of ranches, farmland, water, and habitat. We shouldn't have to choose between economic opportunity and the resources that have sustained Solano County for generations. We don't have to choose. The County has already launched a comprehensive General Plan Update, the public process built for exactly this kind of decision. Don't let our future be guided by a trailer bill decided in a matter of days in Sacramento.
Solano County's future is worth getting right. Today’s decisions about land, water, and growth will determine what future generations inherit. We must take the long view and ask ourselves if our decisions will leave Solano County stronger for the generations that follow.
Here's what you can do before Tuesday, August 25th, 2026, before 2 p.m.:
Contact your County Supervisor and ask them not to support this bill as written.

A short message is enough. Something like: “I'm a Solano County resident, and I'm asking you not to support the Solano Maritime and Manufacturing Act. It overrides our voter-approved Measure T and relies on an outdated environmental review that has never examined this project's impact on our air, water, and wildlife. Please insist on the full review this deserves.”
