đź’ś Meeting Highlight--Our club continues to grow! This week, the Rotary Club of Vacaville inducted Diana Bagley, a Vacaville native and retired Executive Assistant who most recently worked in healthcare at Stanford. Welcome, Diana! We look forward to getting to know you and serving alongside you.

Our members also raised another $2,000 for PolioPlus, which meant two more purple fingernails for President Louie DeBartolo! đź’… His purple pinky challenge is becoming quite the manicure, all in support of ending polio. Thank you to everyone who contributed and to Louie for keeping the fun going!

We also welcomed Wanda Cook from Archway Recovery Services for a presentation about its work supporting people affected by substance use disorders. Archway’s approach brings together treatment and support for stable housing, employment, and relationships as people build their lives in recovery.

Recovery involves more than treatment. Stable housing, employment, and supportive relationships can help people build a lasting foundation for their lives.

Join the Rotary Club of Vacaville at the Vacaville Opera House for a program about Archway and its work supporting people affected by substance use disorders in Solano and Napa counties.

Providing treatment and rehabilitation services since 1995, Archway offers detox, residential, and outpatient care. We’ll learn about its approach to recovery and how partnerships throughout our region help connect individuals and families with support.

We would love to have you as a guest. Visitors interested in learning more about Rotary or exploring membership in our club are welcome to attend as the guest of a Rotarian or by contacting the club in advance so we can plan appropriately for seating and lunch.

Meeting Highlight đź’™ Apologies for the late posting, but this was a great meeting to share. The Rotary Club of Vacaville is growing, and we welcomed two members!

Welcome back to Will Hite, owner of Summit Properties here in Vacaville. Will first joined our club in 1993, and we’re glad to have him return after about three years away. His classification is Property Management.

We also welcomed Marianna Weiser, a former Rotarian from the Grants Pass, Oregon club, whose classification is CPA. We look forward to getting to know Marianna and serving alongside both her and Will!

Our program featured Robert Guerrero, Interim Executive Director of the Solano Transportation Authority, who was accompanied by an STA colleague. Robert provided an update on the agency’s work and transportation planning in Solano County.

Thank you to both of our STA guests for joining us and to our members for another welcoming afternoon of fellowship and learning.

Transportation connects us to work, school, and the places we depend on every day. Join the Rotary Club of Vacaville at the Vacaville Opera House as we welcome Robert Guerrero for an update from the Solano Transportation Authority (STA).

Robert grew up in Suisun and graduated from Fairfield High School and Chico State. His 26-year career with STA began as a college intern and has included leadership roles in planning, leading to his current role as Interim Executive Director.

We look forward to hearing about STA’s work and transportation planning in Solano County.

This also happened at yesterday’s meeting! 💜

We celebrated Cameron Cecil’s Paul Harris Fellow +1 recognition. Congratulations, Cameron, and thank you for your generous and continued support of The Rotary Foundation!

Traci brought back a club flag from the Rotary Club of Cusco, Peru, as a thank-you for our assistance with their local water project. A wonderful reminder of the connections we build through service.

Then came President Louie DeBartolo’s purple pinky challenge! Louie promised to paint his pinky purple if our club reached its $10,000 goal for PolioPlus, plus another nail for every additional $1,000 raised.

The purple pinky represents the mark used during polio vaccination campaigns to help volunteers identify children who have already received their vaccine.

Our members had more than one purple nail in mind. With the goal reached and another $3,000 pledged during the meeting, you guessed it: four purple nails for Louie! đź’…đź’ś

Thank you to everyone who contributed, to our volunteer nail painters, and to Louie for being a good sport. Rotary Club of Vacaville knows how to have fun while supporting a cause that matters.

đź’™ Meeting Highlight

This week, Rotary Club of Vacaville member Thaty Yoder shared a deeply personal craft talk about her family’s journey from Laos to a new life in the United States.

Thaty spoke about her parents’ escape from persecution, their years in refugee camps in Thailand, and the church community that helped them resettle in San Diego. Her story honored the sacrifices her parents made and the resilience, faith, and generosity they passed on to their children.

She also shared how that legacy continues through her commitment to education, her family, and the work she and her husband, Justin, do through Yoder Insurance Agency to help neighbors navigate difficult moments.

Craft talks give us an opportunity to know our fellow members more fully. Thank you, Thaty, for trusting our club with your family’s story and reminding us how much history, strength, and hope each person brings to our Rotary family.

Join the Rotary Club of Vacaville at the Vacaville Opera House as fellow member Thaty Yoder presents her craft talk.

In Rotary, a craft talk gives members an opportunity to share more about their profession, personal interests, experiences, or areas of expertise. These programs help us get to know the people within our club beyond the time we spend together at meetings and service projects.

A quick reminder that the Rotary Club of Vacaville will not hold its regular meeting this Thursday.

Our club is “dark” this week following Monday’s Golf Classic. Thank you again to all of the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who helped make the tournament possible!
