Come celebrate International Archaeology Day (Saturday, October 18) with the ECIAS! We'll be hosting a new event: the ECIAS tour of the Edwards Trace.

This route was used by Native peoples, soldiers, and militia in the War of 1812, and later settlers in the Sangamon River area and beyond. This carpool tour will visit its remaining ruts and other sites in Logan and Sangamon Counties. Tour guides will describe their research on the trace and provide stories of early settler life in the 1810s through the 1840s.

ECIAS has another excellent list of speakers and events for 2025-26. They are all free and open to the public; we look forward to seeing you there!

Please note that in September, October, and December, we'll meet at the Savoy Recreation Center Activity Room, 402 Graham Drive, Savoy, IL.
Our November event will be "Explore Archaeology" on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Museum of the Grand Prairie, Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve, 950 N. Lombard St., Mahomet, IL.
In January, February, March, April, and May, we'll return to the Urbana Free Library, Lewis Auditorium
