June is , an annual observance dedicated to educating the public about the most common infectious cause of birth defects in the United States.

FACT: CMV is a common, often symptomless virus that spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids like saliva and urine.

DANGER: When a pregnant person contracts CMV and passes it to their unborn child (congenital CMV), it can lead to permanent disabilities.

IMPACT: babies born with congenital CMV will experience long-term health problems, including hearing loss, vision loss, and developmental delays.
