In February of 2020, during the beginning of the pandemic, Salvation Army closed down their operations in Itawamba County. This left a void, in our community, just when families needed it most. In May of 2020, Samaritan’s Market was opened by a local family who still operates it, as a full non-profit organization. One hundred percent of the monies collected and donated stay in Itawamba County and
our surrounding areas. There are so many areas that we help with, it’s hard to list them all, but some of them are; we assist with light bills, water bills, gas bills, groceries, lodging when required, local charities, free clothing for families that have suffered from a house fire, Pack the Bus Program(school supplies for struggling families), Samaritan’s Tree(similar to Salvation Army’s Angel Tree) and many more areas where families are affected. We strive to treat everyone fairly and our goal is to show compassion and assist families when/where needed. On occasion, we have supported other areas outside of Itawamba, such as the tornado that hit Amory in 2023. However, our drive and focus is to serve Itawamba County and our local citizens. Samaritan’s Market’s mission statement states “Our mission is to enhance goodness and well-being in our store and community. We will strive to promote Godly values and compassion with every sale, every customer, in every situation every time. On a personal note, we love what our store has to offer, our work throughout the community and helping those in need. That is why we are here…… that is why we exist. Thank you so much for your interest in our business. God Bless and please come by to visit with us sometime.
