This has been a challenging week for our fire departments after responding to 5 different structure fires, with 4 of those over just a 30 hour period. Our departments and dedicated firefighters from across the county put in a lot work trying to save what we could and worked night and day to extinguish those fires.
We are thankful for fire departments outside of Itawamba that came to our aid when requested. Over the course of this spree of structure fires we received help from Red Bay Fire, Belmont Fire, Smithville Fire, Mooreville Fire, and Richmond Fire departments.
It is refreshing to have so many departments and volunteers willing to step in and work together. It can get complicated with multiple departments working a single incident, however we were able to overcome many of those difficulties.
Our crews are tired (maybe even a little dehydrated) and their gear is wet, but as always we remain ready for the next one. If you’re looking for an adventure come join one of our teams.
