Today was the best celebration for World Down Syndrome Day! More pics and memories to come, but for now, enjoy some of our friends gathered as a community on a day that brought all the joy and belonging.

People with Down syndrome can have successful careers! It’s all a matter of finding the right fit for each person (kinda like all of us, right?).
They can work anywhere that’s willing to accept and adapt, but there are some businesses that were built specifically to hire people with special needs.
Two such businesses are The Lily Pad (located in Ridgeland, MS) and Bitty & Beau’s (closest location in Auburn, AL). These businesses/non-profits were started with the goal to give people with Down syndrome and other special needs a place to work and thrive.

Happy World Down Syndrome Day!
No matter where you’re celebrating today, use it to show kindness, acceptance, and love. To celebrate differences and advocate for belonging. Let the world know what people with Down syndrome can do!
And all of that? It’s everything.

There’s no reason to say no! The training is free, and if you stay for the whole training, you’ll even get paid via stipend!

Join us this Saturday, September 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our free virtual training Building Bridges through Everyday Advocacy: Supporting Families as They Learn How to Advocate at Home, in School, and in the Community.

This virtual training, held via Zoom, is for families of children and youth with disabilities. Registration is required and a link to join will be sent out prior to the event.

Parents that participate in the entire training will receive a stipend!

Topics include:
- Understanding advocacy styles
- Communication & conflict resolution
- Preparing for & participating in IEP meetings
- Organization & record keeping
- Supporting children & youth in developing self-advocacy skills
-Transition planning and the future
