Some of the biggest changes at Lindsey House don't always show up in a photograph or a nice, neat story.

They're in the mom who finally feels confident managing her money.

The mom who keeps showing up for work, even when the road ahead feels overwhelming.

The mom who sees her kiddos begin to thrive at school.

The mom who starts believing that a future filled with stability and possibility is something she and her kids can actually have.

At Lindsey House, we get to see these changes every day. And we're often reminded that sometimes the greatest gift is just the opportunity to begin again...and knowing you have a safe place to make that start.

Big things are happening for Jodi!

Jodi has been dedicated to her current job for quite some time, but she knew that her wages and hours weren't going to provide the long-term stability she needed to provide for her family. So, while continuing to work, she committed herself to finding something better. She worked on her resume, showed up for interviews, and kept pushing forward, even when the process took time.

And all that hard work is paying off! Jodi has officially accepted a new position that will give her a full 40-hour work week and a $5/hour pay increase. This is the sustainability she's been looking for.

Jodi kept showing up for herself, and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate this next chapter with her!!

One of our biggest goals for every family at Lindsey House is to help them be prepared to live independently when they leave our program. But independence doesn’t just happen by chance. It takes research, planning, budgeting, and a whole lot of preparation.

As a mom begins thinking about what comes next, she is given a Housing Assignment. It may sound simple, but there is a lot to consider.

She looks at the true cost of renting a home or apartment - not just the monthly rent, but utilities, insurance, deposits, and other expenses that come with having a home of her own.

And because our moms are the primary, and often only, caregivers for their children, there are even more questions to answer: How far is it from school and work? Is childcare nearby? What transportation options are available? How long is the waitlist? Will this home fit her family’s needs...and her budget?

It can be a challenging assignment, but it’s an important one.

Our goal isn’t simply for a family to find a place to live. Our goal is for every family to leave Lindsey House with a housing plan that is safe, stable, and financially sustainable.

Because preparing for independence means preparing for the life that comes next.

Amber did it!!

After nearly 18 years without a driver's license, Amber is officially behind the wheel!

In a community where having a car is often essential, not having a license can mean relying on limited public transportation or spending money on expensive rides just to get where you need to go. For Amber, earning her license means more than being able to drive - it means more independence, more opportunity, and one less barrier standing between her and the future she's working so hard to build.

Almost 40 kiddos at Lindsey House are getting pretty excited about Halloween!!

We'd love to take your new or gently used costumes off your hands so our moms don't have to purchase costumes for this fun holiday. The kids at Lindsey House range in age from about 9 months to 15 years old!

You can bring donations to our facility Monday - Fridays 8am-4pm thru October 15th.

We are so pumped today!

Ravin has made big strides while at Lindsey House, including paying off her housing debt so that she's better able to find a good next step for her and her four kiddos.

But today?? Here's what happened today, in Ravin's own words...

"Today I made huge step towards greater things for my family. Since the age of 16 I've been trying to get my GED/Diploma I gave up numerous times, lost faith in myself many times, this last time I decided I was not going to give up anymore and keep striving until I get it, I grew tired of living paycheck to paycheck, I grew tired of not being able to provide my children more, I grew tired of just not having anything to show for my life that was the determining factor in wanting diploma. With some help from some amazing people here at the Lindsey House and patience on their part and helping me I can say today I got that GED. So many doors have come open today I am so grateful and feel so blessed."
