AFT Local 6049 Oklahoma Oklahoma Service Workers Union (OSWU) Local 6049 Oklahoma was chartered by the AFT in 1998. Located We stand united so that no member stands alone.

AFT Local 6049 collectively bargains each year for all 2,400 support employees currently working for Tulsa Public Schools. Custodians, School Bus Drivers, Mechanics, Child Nutrition staff, Plant Operations employees, Maintenance Craftsmen and women, Library Assistants, Clerical and Campus Office employees, Security Officers, Paraprofessionals and Classroom Assistants, Health Assistants and all add

itional support personnel are the backbone of our school district. Tulsa Public School support employees work hard to ensure our community's children receive the highest standards for public education, and their service to our city, our students, and our school district is incredible. The 7 elected Union Officers and Chief Stewards for Local 6049 have a combined service of over 100 years as Tulsa Public Schools support employees. They all come from a variety of different job descriptions, but they came together and remain united by union solidarity and brotherhood, and all have worked tirelessly to serve and advocate for the school employees and working families in our community. On Thursday June 18th, Superintendent Gist sent out an email to Tulsa Public Schools employees that Juneteenth would be "a paid holiday for the Team Tulsa family, and that hourly employees who worked 4 10-hour days M-Th of this week will be paid 48 hours", (June 15-19). We, here at AFT Tulsa have been fielding calls from support personnel saying that their start and stop times are being manipulated so as to not pay them the eight hour in the email, the week that they were promised. Who misinterpreted what here??

Hello, it's me again. Last night your AFT Tulsa Executive Board met and spoke with John Croisant, TPS district 5 and Dr. Jerry Griffin of district 6. Both are running for their respective school board seats. They seem to be labor friendly individuals with employee retention and our kids at heart. They are asking for your support and vote on April 7th.

I'm not sure if you are aware of it or not, but this is an election year and we need members to serve on our Elections Committee. Please contact the office if you are interested in serving on this very important committee. Also, we have a labor friendly person running for the school board seat in district 5. Those of living in district 5, please consider giving her your vote February 11,2020.

Good morning, Just want to let you know that we had a very informative meeting Saturday. We will be holding a Ratification vote Tuesday the 10th and Wednesday the 11th from 8am to 5pm both days. Votes will be counted Wednesday, between 5 and 5:30pm at our office. We will then notify the school board of our decision. If ratified it should go to the school board for their approval at the Monday the 16th board meeting.
We will be holding our Holiday Gathering at the Golden Corral again this,on 21st Street. Your meal will be covered if you RSVP our office and arrive there between 8:30 and 9:30am. Hope to see you all there.
