🚨🚨Attention Westside Community Residents,🚨🚨

As President of the Barrio El Rio Neighborhood Association, I want to bring awareness to the growing concerns happening on Tucson’s westside. We have recently learned about the closure of the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind campus, the closure of the Pima Community College learning center at the El Rio Neighborhood Center, and now the closure of a local daycare at the El Rio neighborhood center facility.

On top of that, bus stops and bus services in our area have been reduced or removed, making it harder for residents, seniors, students, and working families to access jobs, education, healthcare, and other essential services. We are also dealing with street lights being out in neighborhoods for months, creating serious safety concerns as homes and vehicles have been broken into.

These closures and service reductions are having a significant impact on our community. Residents deserve to know what is happening, why these decisions are being made, and what plans are in place to support those affected. Unfortunately, many community members have not been properly informed or included in these discussions.

I have reached out to elected officials seeking answers, transparency, and accountability regarding these closures, service reductions, and ongoing neighborhood concerns. The westside community deserves investment, resources, and a seat at the table when decisions are being made that affect our families and neighborhoods.

I encourage residents to stay informed, get involved, and make their voices heard. Together, we can advocate for the services and resources our community needs and deserves.

📢 Attention Barrio El Rio Neighborhood Residents 📢

Please be advised that the next Brush & Bulky collection is not scheduled until September 21, 2026.

We kindly ask residents not to place brush, bulk items, or trash out at the curb until the week of the scheduled pickup. Putting items out too early can create safety concerns, attract illegal dumping, and negatively impact the appearance of our neighborhood.

With the Fourth of July holiday approaching next month, piles of brush and bulky items can also become a fire hazard, putting our homes, families, and neighborhood at risk.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep Barrio El Rio clean, safe, and beautiful for everyone.
