This is not a well thought out post, but I did not think I could be surprised by anything else this city did to criminalize and straight up threaten the lives of unhoused people, and then dropped a new cartoonishly evil method.
This is so horrific and violent and evil when we are already over 100 degrees.
Anyone in a position of power that does not speak out about this is complicit in any heat death this summer.
And don’t come at us saying, well then suggest something else. We have been at city council meetings for YEARS advocating for models that bring dignity, humanity and safety to unsheltered folks that also help to address many issues that all people bring up. Mobile bathrooms, more mobile showers, mobile mental health and MAT treatment, needle disposal kiosks… (scroll through for snippets from a doc we put together of actual evidence based and harm reduction models of care)
This is going to kill people. Full stop.
