Hello gardeners and community memebers,

This Sunday the 5th is our monthly first Sunday workday/potluck. I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful rain and cooler weather. It has been such a breath of fresh air and I feel more awake and able to function..lol. Summertime was a doozy. At the last workday we talked about planning for some Dia de los Mu***os preparation and decoration of an altar space ( we can continue planning for this) we also talked about planting fall seeds. If you have any ideas or anything you'd like to share that would be great as well. It's always so nice to see your friendly faces and I look forward to seeing you Sunday. Let's celebrate this cooler weather with some yummy treats.

Please join us this Sunday, September 21 at 8am for the monthly neighborhood clean-up 🧹🚮🌳

Tools, supplies, and refreshments provided. We will meet at the northwest corner of the park to tackle the area near the residential homes as this area is often neglected. Come out and get some exercise in the cool morning air!

This morning at 6:30am 11 students from Nosotros Academy in Menlo Park pulled invasive buffel grass at the base of Cukson and later, mixed that fire-accelerating danger grass with earth to create mud adobe bricks. 🧱

This partnership includes stipends for the students and is the vision of David Walker, , who was awarded money for this project through the Ward 1 Budget de la Gente participatory budgeting process.

We could all use a good reminder this week of the power of positive community change that happens when we get outside, touch grass (buffel grass), do hard work together, and care for our environment at the same time.

Thank you to everyone who envisioned this collaboration and participated in carrying it out. More to come in the coming weeks!

Tucson voters approved Proposition 411 in May 2022. This ballot initiative reauthorized the city’s 0.5-cent sales tax for ten years to fund street repaving, safety enhancements, and other transportation improvements.

Thanks Tucson voters!

Prop 411 is funding critical infrastructure in Menlo Park to support aging place, walkability, and safer connections.
