Being a facilitator at Tu Nidito means showing up for families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives—and reminding them they don’t have to face grief alone.

If you’re compassionate, committed, and ready to make a meaningful impact, we invite you to join our team. As a facilitator, you’ll help create safe spaces where children, teens, and adults can share, heal, and find connection through their grief journey.

Together, we can ensure that no one has to grieve alone.

1 in 10 children in Arizona will experience the death of a parent or sibling before turning 18.

Grief doesn’t just affect the child—it touches the entire family. At Tu Nidito, our support groups are designed to surround the whole family with care, understanding, and connection.

Through compassionate peer groups, guidance, and shared experiences, families find a safe space to connect, support one another, and know they are not alone.

Every child and family deserves comfort and community in their grief. This is how we deliver our mission to ensure no one grieves alone. If you or someone you know can be supported by our services.

When a child is diagnosed with a serious medical condition, everything can change in an instant. Families are often left navigating uncertainty, complex emotions, and difficult decisions—all at once.

Our Pathways Program offers one-on-one support for families during these moments. We provide individualized guidance, emotional support, and practical tools to help caregivers and children cope with diagnosis, treatment, and the ongoing changes that follow.

Support is flexible and meets families where they are—whether at Tu Nidito, in the hospital, at home, or within the community. Services are available in both English and Spanish, and are free of charge.

We came together for an unforgettable evening at the Remarkable Celebration on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Hilton El Conquistador Tucson. We honored five truly inspiring Remarkable Women—who speak to our mission to create a compassionate community of acceptance and understanding for those grieving a death or serious medical condition.

The evening featured cocktails, dinner, a vibrant silent auction, and live music from Gilligan’s Island (The Band), bringing beachy energy and joy all to show our support for Tu Nidito families.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, board members, staff, and guests, this Remarkable Celebration will help ensure that no one in our community has to navigate grief alone.

At this year’s Remarkable Celebration on May 9th, we are proud to honor Dr. Melissa Zukowski — a dedicated physician, compassionate leader, and truly remarkable mom.

A proud University of Arizona alumna, Dr. Zukowski has built an inspiring career in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics while serving children and families throughout Arizona. As Senior Director and Associate Chief Medical Officer at Banner University Medical Center, she is passionate about improving healthcare quality, safety, and patient care.

Her commitment to the community extends beyond medicine through her work in childhood injury prevention and her longtime connection with Tu Nidito.

Most importantly, Melissa is a loving wife and proud mom to Sophia, whose achievements she celebrates every step of the way. We are honored to celebrate her at this year’s Remarkable Celebration!

During our Annual Remarkable Celebration that took place on Saturday, May 9th, we celebrated five remarkable women in our community.

One of those women was Lynda Weigel-Firor — nonprofit leader, advocate, mother, and community champion. For more than 25 years, Lynda dedicated her life to supporting nonprofits, advocating for families navigating autism and ADHD, and creating inclusive spaces for neurodivergent children and adults.

Even through the death of her son and a recent cancer diagnosis, she continues to support our local community and is committed to seeing her daughter thrive.

Thank you, Lynda, for inspiring our community through your strength and unwavering commitment to helping others.

We’re proud to celebrate an incredible group of Dorrance Scholarship students who recently volunteered with us and made a lasting impact!

Established in 1999, the Dorrance Scholarship Program supports Arizona’s first-generation college students with both financial and academic resources—awarding up to 60 scholarships each year to students attending ASU, NAU, and the University of Arizona.

Through their dedication and a compelling pitch, these students didn’t just give their time—they earned a $500 grant to support and strengthen our program.

We’re grateful for their passion, initiative, and commitment to service. The future is bright with leaders like these!
