September 30th is Every Child Matters | Orange Shirt Day. This day is set aside to recognize the abuse that occurred in Indian Boarding Schools. Unfortunately, many of the same problems that occurred in the boarding schools are seen in the foster care system today: children whose personal effects are stolen, kids that are made to feel less-than, youth whose beliefs and and culture are dismissed, and other forms of neglect and oversight. We're wearing Every Child Matters bracelets today to remember the atrocities of the Indian Boarding Schools and represent our core belief that every child deserves to feel valued 🧡

For years, the Tucson Roadrunners have been a huge supporter of More Than a Bed and now's our chance to show them some support! Everyone is invited to join them tomorrow evening, Tuesday September 29th, 5:30pm-7:30pm at Culinary Dropout for their Caravan Kick-Off event! MTaB Families! Looking for something fun to do this weekend? There are 2 fun opportunities with the Tucson Roadrunners:

Friday, Sept 25 | 6:00pm: FanFest at the Tucson arena. Get autographs, enjoy open-skating, and practice shooting pucks. FREE ENTRY!

Sunday, Sept 27 | 7:00pm: We have tickets available for the exhibition game vs the Texas Stars. First come, first serve. You can come pick them up in the warehouse tomorrow (Friday) between 8:30am - 1:30pm. Take the family and have a great time cheering on the Roadrunners!

We had an inspiring visit this morning from the Rotary Clubs of Southern Arizona and Rotarians from Romania as part of the Rotary Friendship Exchange! More Than a Bed was honored to share about how we serve the foster care community, and about how our amazing community helps support us. It was an active example of the Rotary's mission to provide service, promote integrity, and advance world understanding and peace through a network of community and professional leaders. We were grateful to be a part of it! 💙✨

We had a fun day yesterday filming a video for next month's 100+ Women Who Care Tucson meeting! Grace got to share about MTaB history and three phenomenal women shared about their foster care journeys. Their stories are powerful and are sure to help educate, encourage, and empower others ❤️ We're excited to see and share the final product, filmed and edited by Elisa and Bobby of ArcLight Pictures. Thank you for using your talents to share about MTaB and foster care 🎥🫶

We're excited to announce Ready for Life, a 3-part Workshop Series for foster and adoptive youth ages 14-21. Ready for Life will help build practical skills for health, independence, and adulthood. All workshops will be held at Catalyst Creative Collective in the Tucson Mall.

In collaboration with the University of Arizona Zuckerman College of Public Health Physician Assistant Program and funded by NCCPA Health Foundation.
