We hope all of our students and families have a fun, safe, and spooktacular Halloween! Whether you're out trick-or-treating, enjoying time with family, or making memories with friends, we hope your day is filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of sweet treats!

At Communities In Schools, we believe every child deserves to feel supported, encouraged, and surrounded by people who care. That's what makes our Montgomery County community so special! It takes all of us showing up, lending a hand, and working together to help our students succeed, both in and out of the classroom.

🎃🍬 Our Student Support Specialists have been spreading a little Halloween magic throughout Montgomery County today!

From passing out candy to our little trick-or-treaters to spending time with students and showing up in our schools, our team has been busy making connections and sharing smiles!

At CISMC, showing up for kids is what we do! Whether it's offering support, building relationships, or simply sharing a little Halloween fun, we're here to remind students that they have people in their corner who care! 🧡

✨ Creativity, connection, and a little crafting magic! 🎨💕

Our CrA+fters at Green Ridge Elementary School spent time this week creating their own aprons—oversized name tags decorated with images of the things that make each girl special!

But this group is about so much more than crafts. 💗 Week after week, our mentors continue to show up, build relationships, encourage these girls, and create opportunities for them to learn more about themselves and one another. Through creativity, teamwork, and meaningful connections, they’re making an impact that goes far beyond the craft table!

We’re so thankful for the volunteers who continue to pour into these girls and remind them that they matter! ❤️

Yesterday, Communities In Schools of Montgomery County partnered with Montgomery Community College for MCC’s Exploration Event! 🎓

We had the opportunity to connect with 318 eighth-grade students from across Montgomery County and share more about CIS, the work our Student Support Specialists do in our schools, and the many ways we connect students with resources, relationships, and opportunities to succeed! 💙💛

We love opportunities like this to connect with students and help them see what’s possible for their future!

We have to brag on Ms. Kissell and the amazing things happening at Montgomery Central High School!! 💙💛🐺

From college visits and college fairs to celebrating Homecoming and finding ways to recognize students for their accomplishments, Ms. Kissell is making sure MCHS students feel supported, encouraged, and connected!

She’s going the extra mile by sending personalized Howl Outs to students who are recognized by their teachers for kindness, hard work, accomplishments, and other positive things happening throughout the school. 🐺👏

Whether she’s helping students explore their futures, celebrating their successes, or providing daily check-ins and support, Ms. Kissell is showing what it means to be present for students and help them stay focused on their goals.

We are so proud of the work she’s doing at MCHS and the difference she’s making in the lives of students! This is what looks like! ❤️

Today, the CISMC team is wearing orange for Unity Day to stand together for kindness, and acceptance! 🧡

At Communities In Schools of Montgomery County, we believe every student deserves to feel safe, supported, accepted, and like they belong. When we stand together, we can help create schools and communities where every child knows they matter. 🧡

A little orange can send a BIG message: We’re better together, and there’s a place for everyone! 🧡

🎨 A new mentoring adventure is underway!

Our CIS Mentoring program is off to a great start with a wonderful group of 5th-grade girls at Green Ridge Elementary School ❤️

The girls and their mentors spent time getting to know one another, sharing their interests, and adding their own creative touches to their craft bins with personalized tags featuring their favorite artists. From conversations to creativity, there was plenty of excitement as everyone settled in and began building new connections!

This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to see the friendships formed, creativity shared, and memories made along the way! 🎨💛

📅 **October 19–25, 2026** is College Application Week in North Carolina! During this special week, many participating colleges and universities will waive their application fees, giving you the opportunity to apply for FREE! 🙌

Here’s how to get started:
✅ Visit https://www.cfnc.org/ to explore colleges and complete your applications.
✅ Check the list of participating schools to see which application fees are waived.
✅ Complete your Residency Determination Service (RDS) before applying if you haven't already.
✅ Reach out to your school counselor if you need help!

💛 Going Gold for Our Students, Staff, and Families! 💛

Today, the CISMC team wore gold in support of the students, staff, and families in our community who have been affected by cancer. 💛

At the request of Montgomery County Schools North Carolina, we joined together to show our support, spread awareness, and remind those facing cancer that they are not alone.

At Communities In Schools of Montgomery County, we believe that being present matters—and sometimes, a simple act like wearing gold can send a powerful message of love, hope, and encouragement.

We stand with every student, staff member, and family impacted by cancer. Today and every day, we’re cheering you on! 💛
