UPDATED 4/7/26 7:45 A.M. - The suspect, Eric Olvera, was taken into custody on Monday night without incident. He is being held without bond.

Death Investigation
April 6, 2026
On April 2, 2026, at approximately 10:29 p.m., the Alvin Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from an individual who reported his friend had been shot and the pair were traveling on S.H. 35 in the caller’s car. Officers located the vehicle in 3100 block of S.H. 35. They discovered the victim in the back seat of the car with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Through investigation it was determined the shooting occurred at a convenience store approximately one mile south. The disagreement stemmed from a vehicle trade previously arranged by the victim and suspect.
The victim was identified as Emad Siddiqui, 18, of Sugarland.
The suspect, Eric Olvera, 23, of Alvin, has been charged by warrant with Murder. He is presently at large and detectives are actively attempting to locate him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the Alvin Police Department at 281/388-4370. Olvera should be considered armed and dangerous.
