Well this is exciting!! What a great addition to the StoryTime, Coloring/Craft, & Movie activities offered by Montgomery County Public Library & their branch libraries!!

Now you can attend a StoryTime or other kid-friendly fun session somewhere in MoCo nearly every day of the month!!

Did someone say FREE storytime with crafts?? And sometimes a little guitar with Ms. Leah!!!

We’re rolling out a WEEKLY storytime event at our new location in Troy (i.e., 925 Ophir Ave)! Leah will be taking this time to do a little interactive, didactic reading followed by themed crafts!

Our goal is to bring the community littles together to relax, have a little fun, get some fine motor (and sometimes gross motor) practice, as well as to learn new words and sentence structures! This event is open to all members of the community, regardless of age!

We’ll be kicking things off in exactly ONE WEEK on Thursday, October 29 at 10:30am!

✨ We do NOT require an RSVP, that said it does help get a general headcount for planning materials for crafting! Go ahead and RSVP as the storytime announcements come out or comment below! If you aren't sure that you want to RSVP, totally fine! Just show up and we will be here!!

It's time to break out the crayons, markers and colored pencils because we're hosting a KIDS COLORING CONTEST!

This is a great opportunity to meet other families with children close in age to yours! We are excited that Sweet Magnolia Speech Therapy, PLLC is offering this much needed service in Montgomery County!

**Play Groups are coming to Sweet Magnolia in Troy!**

We’re excited to start offering play groups for our littlest friends this NOVEMBER! These groups will give children a chance to play, make friends, explore, and work on important skills like communication, sharing, and taking turns.

We’ll be kicking things off with a **$15 trial week during the last week of OCTOBER** so your little one can come check it out before committing to the monthly group! 💕

🌿 **Here are the details:**

🧸 **Group 1: Ages 18–36 months**
Mondays & Wednesdays 9:30–10:15 AM

🌸 **Group 2: Ages 2–4 years**
Mondays & Wednesdays 10:30–11:15 AM

📅 Starting in November, groups will meet twice a week for $120 per month.

The past few weeks have reminded us just how deeply Dolly Parton touched the lives of people around the world. As we’ve grieved this great loss, we’ve also witnessed an incredible outpouring of love, generosity, and support for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and our shared mission to inspire a love of reading.

"Give Like Dolly Day" on September 25 was a beautiful example of that spirit in action. People everywhere found ways to give back, support children, and honor Dolly’s generous heart. For our local program, it was another opportunity to share the impact of DPIL right here in Montgomery County and to enlist your help in carrying Dolly’s mission forward.

Our wonderful (MCPC) Board Members are finishing up their "30 Days of Dolly" fundraising campaign efforts & might still have a few spots left to be filled in before next Wednesday's Board Meeting.

Please let them know if you would like to make a donation to help fund this important early literacy program that mailed 1,158 books to MoCo children last month!

🎄 Tree of Hope 2026: Final Sign-Up Reminder! 🎄

Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14, is the LAST DAY to register for Tree of Hope!

📍 NC Cooperative Extension Office
1001 N. Main St., Troy, NC 27371

9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Tree of Hope is open to eligible Montgomery County families with children from birth through 5th grade, including public, private, charter, and homeschool students, as well as infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

✅ Please bring:
• Photo ID
• Proof of income for all adults in the household, such as a W-2, two recent pay stubs, or other income documentation
• Your child’s clothing sizes and Christmas wishes/needs list

Eligibility is based on federal income guidelines.

We so appreciate your willingness to respond on such short notice and your ongoing commitment to Montgomery County's children & families!
