A little piece of Dutch history in an American courtroom.

Participants from Central and South America visited the Capital Region as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), “The U.S. Judicial System: A Regional Project for the Western Hemisphere.”

During their visit to the New York State Court of Appeals, intern Sidar Yilmaz noticed tulips carved into the wood of the historic courtroom clock, a beautiful connection to his Dutch heritage and the Capital Region’s own Dutch history.

Sidar, whose hometown of Nijmegen is Albany’s sister city, shares this discovery in his latest ICCR blog, “Dutch Tulips in an American Courtroom.”
