MORE ART is coming to Lansingburgh! We’re excited to share another sneak peek of the growing art collection now taking shape on 2nd Ave.

Photographer Robert Cooper is installing a collection of photographs, capturing everyday moments from his travels both close to home and beyond.

Robert said about the project: I’m really grateful to Albany Center Gallery and the Arts Center of the Capital Region for the opportunity to share my photography with the Lansingburgh community and be part of bringing more art and beauty to the neighborhood.

These photos capture everyday moments from my travels, both close to home and beyond. Each one captures a place, a feeling, or a passing moment, and together they tell a bigger story.

It’s really special to see these moments become part of the Lansingburgh community and hopefully give people a chance to pause, connect, and see something familiar in a new way.

This project, curated by Tony Iadicicco, is made possible through a partnership with the The Arts Center of the Capital Region, Albany Center Gallery, ARPA, and the City of Troy, bringing artists and the community together through public art.

Come out and celebrate on Saturday, October 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on 116th and 2nd Ave in Troy.

This event is FREE & open to the public.

Indulge your own creative spirit with interactive art activities, live performances and tunes by DJ Celeb & Jonesy and Jordan Taylor Hill, a community lunch with Joseph’s House and the Lansing Inn, and MORE!

Regular old residents are way down the list of people we think about when running our communities.

Big businesses drive most decisions. Especially those located in some other town. Because we love big businesses, we put to work a whole cadre of experts and give them the community keys to try and entice the big business folks.

Then comes the tourist. If they come to town, things are going to be real cool. So we put together another team focused entirely on what tourists want and how to get them to drop off their cash.

We go through enormous effort trying to get people to our towns. But the strange thing is, there are already a bunch of people that live there. Every town. You can tell because when you drive around you can see their houses and apartments. They have already made the decision to call your town home.

What if we made them a priority?

What if we treated them as well as we treat the out-of-towner?

Funny enough, the places we love to visit are the places that are also the nicest to live. The towns that put residents first are winning on every single front. Strong tourism, high quality of life, high property values, thriving local businesses.

It turns out, when you take care of the people who already live there, everyone else wants to show up too.

Transformation Project Open Call!

LAST DAY TO APPLY! DEADLINE: October 7, 2026
EXHIBITION: November 7 – 13, 2026
WHERE: Arts Letters & Numbers, Averill Park, NY

The Transformation Project is an annual art show created to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding Substance Use Disorder (SUD), while creating space for connection, expression, and support. Now in its fourth year, the project brings together artists, community organizations, and individuals and families affected by SUD.

The 2026 open call is now open!

We invite visual artists, writers, musicians, dancers, and performance artists who are directly or indirectly affected by SUD to submit work for this year's exhibition. We welcome creative responses ranging from personal narratives and lived experience to broader social and cultural contexts.

Regional artists are especially encouraged to apply.

The Transformation Project is a collaborative effort organized by the NOpiates Committee and Arts Letters & Numbers, in partnership with Sand Lake Center for the Arts and the Rensselaer County Mental Health-Student Assistance Program, and curated by Frida Foberg. Together, the organizers build connections across generations, experiences, and communities, creating space to challenge stigma and bring allies together.

The design embraces the building’s masonry construction—giving the addition a strong material expression that reinforces the maker spaces housed within. A continuous reveal at the ceiling plane provides a glimpse of the structure and adds to the sense of openness.
