Limited tickets are still available (link in bio) for Bread & Roses, our International Women’s Day luncheon on Monday, March 9th at noon here at 21 First Street. We will be inducting three new Godmothers into the 🧡YWCA-GCR🧡family: Daquetta Jones-Johnson, Nicole Stein, and Dr. Corey Jamison. We hope you’ll join us for a simple lunch and to celebrate the strength of women as we deliver flowers to the residents of YW.

We are so grateful for our kind friends at Rensselaer County Department of Health who dropped off a huge donation of toiletries, winter clothing items, and bedding! We can always use these items and appreciate the overwhelming generosity of our community. Thank you! Stay warm and safe out there this weekend, folks!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to dismantling injustice and advocating for the dignity of every individual. His leadership demonstrated that persistent, nonviolent action can drive meaningful change. At YWCA of the Greater Capital Region we are committed to keeping MLK’s legacy alive as we continue our mission for justice,freedom and dignity for all. Today we honor this legacy.

We hope you enjoy this festive photo from our incredible "Ugly Sweater" holiday party last Friday thrown with the help of Shei at Manon Productions, LLC and DJ HollyW8D. Every single woman and child that we serve received gifts, both wants and needs, from our most generous community. They felt loved, and so do we. Huge shoutout to Broadview Federal Credit Union and everyone who adopted this year. Our hearts are full.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our YW Thanksgiving yesterday! We served up nearly 20 dishes to our residents, staff, and community. Shout out to our amazing CEO Starletta who is head chef for the whole operation. Thanks also to our friends at who donated items for our Persimmon Preparedness Pails and our very own Amethyst who dreamt up the idea. Each of our residents will receive one with essentials and emergency items to help empower our women! Final shout out to our board member Melissa Connolly who baked many gorgeous loaves of her homemade sourdough and kept our kitchen tidy. Wishing the warmest holiday to all!

Hello faithful social media followers! Wow. So much happened in October that we fell WAY BEHIND on keeping you all updated. Enjoy this catch-up photo dump.

4 5 6 - Days for Doing Good volunteers cleaned up around our building, spelled out YWCA (classic!) and prepared and served a community meal.

7 + 8 - Sign-making for Take Back the Night

9 - hosted a beautiful evening in Saratoga for their Justice for All Awards. We attended with our sisters from

10 - 15 - to demand an end to gender-based violence in our communities with

16 + 17 - Today’s presser held by with and calling on our federal government to release funds to keep NYers and ALL vulnerable Americans fed in the shadow of the looming SNAP pause beginning tomorrow.

Trust that we are ON A MISSION every day to eliminate racism and empower women.
