Last Thursday Varsity baseball celebrated their seniors. It was a very fun day as the families got to participate in two very cool events they'll remember for a lifetime. The dads got to play one last round of catch with their boys and the moms got to throw out a first pitch to them. It turned out to be a great night and the boys put a bow on it by defeating Groves 5-1!

✨It was an honor to celebrate this sea of red on Wednesday evening as we recognized 18 incredible senior athletes whose families maintained booster membership throughout all four years of their time at Athens. Many of these student athletes played multiple sports, dedicated countless hours to practice and competition, all the while balancing demanding academic schedules, often while committed to a club team. They led by example in their respective sports and served as role models and mentors to younger teammates. These scholarships are a small way for us to express our gratitude and recognize the hard work, dedication and commitment these seniors have given to our school community. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to their parents for their continued support of our Booster program. The success of our organization and our student athletes here at Athens, would not be possible without their time, dedication and commitment. We could not support all teams, coaches and our Athens community without them. We are incredibly proud of Nathan Berryhill, Cody Carrier, Jayden Cruz, Skyye Frailey, Faith Frederick, Taryn Fritzshing, Ryan Harper, Braeden Hupman, Tommy Kelly, Tyler Kennaugh, Zach Keszo, Annie Lawson, Olivia Lee, Madison Miller, Maya Saleski, Derek Smith, Douglas Szlaga and Abby Waldron. We wish you all the best and remember, we’re always cheering for you!

Athens fell to Rochester this past Saturday for the OAA Blue title 13-5. Returning from an injury that had kept him off the field most of the season, Senior Aaron Kidwell put in two goals and assisted another. Senior Anthony Leonard scored the rest of the three goals for Athens.
They play again this evening, 7pm at the Stadium. Come out and celebrate our graduating seniors at their very last home game.

What might have been. The Red Hawks varsity softball team will be left to wonder. In a tournament at Brandon High School on Saturday, Athens blasted Flint Kearsley, 14-1, in the semifinal game but saw their title hopes washed away when the championship game was rained out. The Red Hawks came out flying versus Kearsley with junior Ella Odgers and senior Kylie Zoll opening the top of the first inning with a triple and double, respectively. Athens went on to score nine runs in the opening frame to cruise to a mercy-shortened win. Zoll was one of four Red Hawks who finished with multiple RBI; the others were freshmen Madelyn Odgers and Mallory Colussi and sophomore Penny Corbett. Colussi got the win surrendering just three hits and striking out five.

Varsity Baseball drops two tight one‑run games to Troy.

On Monday, the offense was paced by J Bouren and G Conrad (RBI) with two singles each, while M Ciurla and A Cermak (RBI) hammered doubles. T Kennaugh added a single. Derek Smith turned in another strong outing, allowing just 3 runs (2 ER) on 7 hits and striking out 8.

Tuesday’s extra‑inning matchup was a thriller. Athens jumped out with four in the first on X Ketterman’s RBI single and A Cermak’s three‑run blast. Troy answered with 3 in the bottom half and 2 more in the second. Athens tied it in the fourth on Ciurla’s sac fly. Ty Manning made an ESPN top 10 worthy play with a game-saving grab in the 6th. Troy pushed across the winner in the bottom of the ninth.

Four Redhawks had multi‑hit nights: T Manning, Ketterman, and Cermak each had two, and Smith collected four hits. J Bouren was outstanding in relief, throwing five innings of no‑hit, shutout baseball.

Athens looks for revenge tonight in the final game of the set at Athens. 430p game start.
