Michigan Spinal Cord Injury Association Enhancing and Empowering the Lives of those with Spinal Cord Injury and Disease. The MSCIA is the Michigan chapter of the United Spinal Association, or the USA.

The Michigan Spinal Cord Injury Association, or MSCIA, is a 501(c)(3) organization with the purpose of enhancing and empowering the lives of those with spinal cord injury and disease through advocacy, education, research, and medical aid. The MSCIA is a statewide resource center dedicated to providing members with community resources and support groups. The USA, founded in 1948, is the nation’s ol

dest and largest civilian organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of Americans living with the results of spinal cord injury and disease and their families. Collectively, we have over 24,000 voices representing our association. The focus of the Michigan Spinal Cord Injury Association (MSCIA) is to enhance and empower those with spinal cord injury and disease to achieve and maintain the highest levels of independence, health and personal fulfillment. As a non-profit organization, we are dependent upon fundraising efforts, sponsorships and donations to support our mission. Donations may be tax deductible.

Participants Needed for SCI Research Study 💡

This study opportunity is offered on behalf of Dr. Gino Panza's lab at Wayne State University. Wayne State University and the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center are conducting a study to learn how a breathing therapy can improve:
• Blood pressure control
• Sleep quality
• Motor function and cognition

Who can join?
• Adults aged 18-60 with motor incomplete spinal cord injuries (above the 12th thoracic vertebrae) with large blood pressure changes (testing available if unsure)

What’s involved?
• 11 visits to the VA Medical Center in Detroit (3 overnight; the rest during the day)
• Flexible scheduling to fit your needs
• Participants will be compensated
