Join us in prayer for those impacted by devastating flash flooding along the border of Nepal and Tibet today. We pray especially for the families and loved ones of those who have died or remain missing, and for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.

As first responders assist survivors and search for the missing, UMCOR stands ready to support the response efforts of United Mission Nepal and other partners in the region.

"Help Us Accept Each Other" (no. 560 in The United Methodist Hymnal) is a powerful hymn on reconciliation and forgiveness. Rooted in Romans 15:7 β€” "Receive one another, then, just as Christ also received you, to God's glory" β€” it calls us to love others "as we find them, or as they may become."

🎡 Help us accept each other
as Christ accepted us;
teach us as sister, brother,
each person to embrace.
Be present, Lord, among us,
and bring us to believe
we are ourselves accepted
and meant to love and live.

The hymn also reflects Ephesians 4:15: β€œBut practicing the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ, who is the head.”

πŸ’ What might you consider doing in order to "grow up into Christ" through love and forgiveness this week?

Continued prayers for Columbia.πŸ™

If you donate to the UMCOR disaster relief effort in Columbia, 100% of your donation goes to the relief effort. UMCOR Sunday - the once a year collection across all UM churches goes to the administrative costs of the organization.

UMCOR is responding to the urgent needs of Colombians impacted by the devastating earthquake that occurred on Monday, August 10, 2026, through support to the Colombian Methodist Church (CMC).

A solidarity grant to the CMC will provide humanitarian assistance to families in Cali who have been directly impacted by the earthquake through the distribution of food and essential household items. UMCOR's support will expand their reach and help them cover the needs of as many survivors as possible in the region.

We remain in close communication with the CMC and other partners in the region and stand ready to offer additional relief and long-term support to Colombia.

As first responders and search and rescue teams continue to uncover the devastating toll of this disaster, we lift up this section of "A Pastoral Letter for Colombia," written by Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr., president of the Council of Bishops - The United Methodist Church, in prayer:

"For those who grieve tonight, that they would not carry their sorrow alone.
For the injured and for the hospitals straining to care for them, that strength would be renewed.
For families still waiting for word of the missing, that hope would not fail before hope is due.
For those who have lost their homes, that shelter would come quickly and stability would follow.
For rescue workers and responders laboring past exhaustion, that their strength would not run out before the work is done.
For the Methodist church in Colombia, that it would keep bearing witness to God’s nearness even now.
May Christ's peace steady us, and may God's compassion move through us into action." Amen.

Prayers for Columbia.πŸ™

Please join us in prayer for the people of Colombia who were impacted by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake this morning, the strongest to strike the country in the last decade. At least 281 people have died, and thousands more are injured, missing, or have been displaced from their homes. As first responders and search and rescue teams uncover the devastating toll of this disaster, we pray for them and their efforts, and we mourn with those who have lost loved ones.

UMCOR stands ready to respond through support to our humanitarian and ecumenical partners in Colombia and across Latin America. We will share response updates on social media as they become available.
