On National Dog Day, let’s give a cheer to these and other prodigious pups who put paws to pavement and pathways to raise money for the Kids of Anchor House. These cuties went the extra mile in our Inaugural Paws For Anchor House event, which raised $15,275 of our $489,583 total for the 2026 Ride For Runaways. There's still time to sponsor one of these wonderful pooches. They can be found here: https://anchorhouseride.rallybound.org/paws-for-anchor-house/static/find-a-page?sort=lastName

Thanks to Anchor House, Inc. for spotlighting our participants in its latest newsletter. When we describe to potential sponsors the good work done every day by staff in the many programs of Anchor House, they can't help but be moved to open their wallets, even during difficult times.

A wonderful symbiosis exists between the Anchor House Board, the Anchor House Foundation Board and the Foundation's Ride For Runaways Committee that results in a steady stream of revenue to keep the doors of Anchor House open and its programs relevant to youth in need. We remember, first and foremost, at all times that "It's For The Kids."

The Ride Committee meets Monday, FYI. A survey will be sent to participants in August.

Behind the scenes, the Ride for Runaways goes on pretty much year-round. Last week, we sent letters of thanks to the many people and organizations who made their pavilions, parks, schools, churches and parking lots available to us for SAG stops. (Some went over and above and provided water, baked goods and port-a-johns at these stops.) Every day of the Ride, we are the beneficiaries of acts of kindness and generosity from people we don’t know, but who join us in supporting the mission of Anchor House, Inc. For most, Trenton, NJ, is a faraway place they’re not likely to visit; nevertheless, they open their doors, and their hearts, to us. On behalf of the kids of Anchor House, we try to acknowledge all of these acts of compassion. We’re all in this together.

These amazing people have seen fire (well, smoke) and they’ve seen rain (for sure). They’ve seen sunny days that they thought would never end. And they raised $420,000 (and counting) for the kids of Anchor House, Inc. It is never too late for you to reward their effort by making a gift. See the link in the comments. I know we’ll see you again, friends.
