NJ is lagging behind when it comes to housing. 🏘️

"Some states have added far more housing than residents since 2020. The story is different in Connecticut, New Jersey and Rhode Island. New Jersey has added about 260,000 new residents since 2020, but only about 66,500 new housing units."

Connecticut, NJ, and Rhode Island are the only states that have lost housing units per capita since 2020, according to a Stateline analysis.

“Many millennials and Gen Z are seeing that the American dream is dying, if not dead,” said Lee Clark, 34.

“I don’t even think I’m ever going to be able to afford a house,” said Sabrina Rodriguez, 29, who works for New Jersey Future, a nonpartisan nonprofit that advocates for equitable growth and redevelopment. “I think the way to go is a lot of zoning reform and a lot of redevelopment. I want New Jersey to have open space to keep our open spaces open.”

Check out Sabrina Rodriguez and Lee Clark on PIX11 providing their thoughts on affordable housing from a younger generation's perspective.

This month, our Policy Manager Deandrah Cameron participated in a workshop hosted by Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and the Program for Community-Engaged Scholarship (ProCES) at Princeton University 🎓

Titled “Sharing Your Thesis with Community Organizations and Practitioners,” the session brought together students and practitioners to bridge research and real-world impact 🤝

Speaking alongside Marina Fedosik and Sakinah Hofler, the workshop helped students prepare their theses and short reports for the Dean Hank Dobin Prize while exploring best practices in community-engaged research 📚

A meaningful opportunity to connect with Princeton students and support them in translating academic work into community impact ✨
