StonesHouse Recovery Advocates "HELPING COMMUNITIES ADVOCATE FOR RECOVERY RESIDENCES AND SUPPORTS" We are also a community partner of Benzie/Manistee Centra Wellness.

Stoneshouse is a non profit organization helping communities to develop recovery residences and supports. The houses in Manistee has and would provide:
* A vital step in and individualized path to recovery
* Help for individuals to learn to build a new way of life, free of alcohol and drugs
* Assistance to people in becoming productive, responsible members of their community
Stoneshouse addres

ses these needs by providing a structured and safe haven for men and women seeking recovery from the disease of addiction. Each resident will be assigned a State certified Recovery Coach who is available 24 hours a day to ensure support and guidance. Each member of our program will participate in and individual assessment to assist with formulating recovery goals, objectives, skills and strategies. Additionally, by establishing and maintaining partner relationships with programs that serve people with substance use disorders and their families, we are able to provide appropriate referrals when necessary. Stoneshouse Staff (who are in recovery themselves) provide monitoring and guidance and are able to teach residents and share there own recovery experiences. In April, the staff and volunteers will attend training to become Peer Recovery Coach Support Specialist, although there are already two that are trained and certified. Stoneshouse is a voting member of the Manistee Continuum of Care and the Manistee Human Services Collaborative Body. We recently accredited as a Benefit Access Partner for the Department of Human services, as such, we are able to help our residents and other residents of Benzie and Manistee Counties access and apply for benefits such as food assistance, health care and job search. We also have partnered with Little River Band of Ottawa Indians in their efforts to hep their members in needs as welll. The people who live at Stoneshouse in Manistee will all have addiction and some may have co-occuring disorders like depression or other mental health issues, A percentage of the residents will be involved with criminal justice, mental health and or Substance abuse systems and would experiencing homelessness if it were not for Stoneshouse. 80% of our past residents were chronic relapsers and 75% of the women were involved with Child Protective Services. All residents of the recovery homes will::
* Be expected to follow all rules of the house and are required to participate in and be responsible for the normal daily routine such as cooking and cleaning.
* Be encouraged to participate in Substance Abuse Counceling, twelve step programs, church and other activities appropriate for them.
* Be required to participate in random alcohol and drug screening to ensure a safe environment for all, as well as going through their things to make sure there are no drugs or paraphernalia present in the homes or on body
* Be required to pay rent when possible

Through these programs we have seen family relationships repaired and watched self esteem of individuals in recovery soar. We have helped mothers get their children back and live a "normal" life, showing them how to learn to parent sober. We have helped many to obtain benefits and services. We have solved issues eith medical bills for some of the residents and assisted others in obtaining a GED. Some of our former residents have startd some new 12 step meetings in our community. Some of our past residents are on our boards today, trying to help give back what was given to them, telling their stories, hoping to reach at least one person. In 2013 we provided more than 2600 nights of shelter. Hlaf of these nights were provided free of charge because of the inability to pay. Stoneshouse relies on Charitable giving from individuals, foundations, businesses and government grants and any other funding we may get, as well as fundraising.
