Congratulations to Food Rescue’s own Taylor Moore on being named one of the Traverse City Business News' 40Under40!

Now celebrating its 20th annual class, 40Under40 recognizes young leaders whose professional achievements, civic involvement, and leadership are helping shape the future of Northern Michigan. Taylor was selected from more than 100 nominees for the momentum he is creating within his organization, community, and regional economy.

Food Rescue Director Taylor Moore will join University of Michigan professor Dr. Kate Bauer for “Designing for Dignity: Strengthening Food Assistance Amid Policy Threats,” part of U-M’s Real-World Perspectives on Poverty Solutions speaker series.

Their conversation will explore food insecurity, equitable food access and how communities can build stronger, more responsive food assistance systems. Taylor will bring lessons from his work with Food Rescue and the Northwest Food Coalition , including the collaborative effort that expanded consistent, year-round access to fruits and vegetables to all 37 regional pantries.

Food Rescue US app volunteer Dennis Norton recently earned his 100 Rescues badge, and he couldn’t have been prouder to reach the milestone. Each one of those rescues helped make good use of good food by getting it where it could feed our neighbors instead of going to waste.

Food Rescue recently made a special rescue at Carlson's Fishery in Leland, picking up locally caught King Salmon and making sure this incredible Northern Michigan food could go where it’s needed. A huge thank you to Carlson’s for helping us put good food to good use!

This 9&10 News story about Mesick Consolidated Schools preparing to open a new School Food Club to give every student and their family access to a free, grocery store-style food resource right inside the school is so important to us.

Food Rescue has been proud to be part of the planning process, working alongside the Michigan Farm Bureau, Mesick schools, local pantries and other partners to help connect this new resource with rescued food and the broader food access network across Northern Michigan.

By bringing food directly to a place families already know and trust, the School Food Club removes barriers like transportation, limited pantry hours and stigma, while making nutritious food more accessible.

We’re excited to see this innovative approach take root in Mesick and proud to play a part in helping more good food reach our neighbors.

Week after week, the Family Fare Traverse City-8th St. team helps Food Rescue make sure good, nutritious food gets put to good use instead of going to waste. Their donations become part of the food we distribute to local pantries, meal programs, and other community partners serving our neighbors across Northern Michigan.

It takes a whole network to rescue food, and grocery partners like Family Fare are an important part of making it happen.

When we found ourselves in a pinch and needed food delivered to Mancelona Food Pantry right away, the Grand Traverse Industries team from Mancelona stepped up without hesitation: “We’ve got ya!”

Our partners at Save A Lot in Traverse City help Food Rescue keep quality food from going to waste and get it to local food pantries and meal sites where it can feed our neighbors.

Every pickup is part of a bigger network of local grocery stores, farms, food businesses, volunteers, and community organizations working together to make sure good food gets used.

Thank you to the employees at Save-A-Lot for being part of that network and helping us put good food to good use across the region.
