What a beautiful evening at the 4th Annual Spit on Cancer Night!

Hosted by the Traverse City Pit Spitters and Munson Healthcare, Saturday's event brought together survivors, families, friends and community members for a night of baseball and celebration while raising funds for the Munson Healthcare Foundations Cancer Patient Needs Fund.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate survivorship, honor those impacted by cancer, and raise awareness and hope throughout our community. Together, we are making a difference. 💙⚾

For his eighth birthday, Dutch Neller asked his friends to bring toys to his birthday party. But this was no ordinary birthday request; Dutch was collecting toys to donate to the Child Life program at Munson Medical Center! 🎁 This program aims to help lower anxiety and stress for pediatric patients. Through education, play, and support, Child Life Specialists help patients and families enhance coping skills during hospital stays.

A generous community member was so inspired by Dutch's thoughtfulness, they donated an additional $5,000 towards his cause – bringing the total impact to over $6,100!

Thank you, Dutch and friends, for bringing more smiles and moments of joy to pediatric patients at Munson! ❤️

On Thursday, May 28, Munson Healthcare Foundations hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new NICU facility at Munson Medical Center. This 24-bed, 22,000 square foot facility will transform the future of care for babies and families in our region.

“We are profoundly grateful to our community for their steadfast patience and support of this project while we navigated the financial headwinds of recent years," shared Debra Henderson, Foundations President. "This project is such a powerful testament to the impact of charitable giving, as donors have contributed $10 million to enhance women’s and children’s services here in Northern Michigan. We are thrilled to be taking this next step in delivering top-quality care to Munson’s littlest patients and look forward to sharing more updates as construction progresses!”

Wyatt House and his mom, Charlotte, donated 15,739 fun, kid-friendly Band-Aids today to Munson Healthcare's Pediatric Hematology Oncology program at the Cowell Family Cancer Center.

When Wyatt started treatment at the CFCC in 2016, he realized there weren't any cool band-aids for kids. Since then, he and Charlotte have collected and donated band-aids to Munson every few years.

Thank you, Wyatt and Charlotte, for giving our pediatric patients some much-needed cheer! ❤️

Please help us thank the Traverse City Central High School - TCAPS boys varsity basketball team for supporting our Cancer Patient Needs Fund! 🏀

Together with the wonderful TC Trojan community, the team raised $2,000 through their Purple Game on February 13th. 💜100% of the dollars raised will support patients and families in need of assistance during their cancer treatment journey.

Players stopped by the Cowell Family Cancer Center last week to present their donation to Munson Healthcare staff. Pictured below is Kathy Laraia, Interim President of Munson Medical Center and Vice President of Oncology and Professional Services, accepting the check from the team.

Thank you, again, to Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) and the TC Central Booster programs for continuing to support healthcare needs in our community! We are so grateful!
