You don’t need a home to have a voice!

Unhoused community members can still participate in local and federal elections, but many barriers they may face can deter them from voting.

San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters is helping the unhoused community access voter education and learn about their rights and opportunities to participate in the voting process.

Tomorrow is World Homeless Day.

Homelessness doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.

It can look like someone sleeping in a car after losing housing.

A family staying temporarily with friends because rent became unaffordable.

Someone living outside while trying to navigate benefits, healthcare, employment and housing options.

A person who is working but still can’t afford a place to live.

On October 10, World Homeless Day calls attention to the realities of homelessness and the work happening in communities around the world to address it.

Here in Tracy, that work happens every day.

Through Street Outreach, Case Management, Mobile Showers, Mobile Laundry, Eviction Prevention and Rental Assistance, Tracy Community Connections Center meets people wherever they are - from helping someone maintain their housing to supporting someone experiencing homelessness as they work toward stability.

Tomorrow, we hope you’ll take a moment to look beyond the stereotypes and remember: there is no single face of homelessness.

🪪 More Than an ID

For most of us, a state ID is something we rarely think about.

For Client R.A., it represents a life-changing milestone.

After experiencing homelessness for much of his life and living without identification for decades, he recently began helping with Tracy Community Connections Center's shower program each week. With encouragement from our team, transportation to the DMV, and support throughout the process, he finally received his state ID.

This simple card opens the door to employment, housing, banking, benefits, and opportunities that were once out of reach.

We're proud to celebrate this important milestone and look forward to supporting him as he continues building a brighter future.

Our shelves could use a little help. 💙

TCCC is currently in need of everyday hygiene essentials for the neighbors we serve. These may seem like small items, but having clean clothes and personal care supplies can make a meaningful difference in someone’s comfort, confidence, and dignity.

Our current needs include:

Men’s underwear, sizes M–XXL
Socks
Small/travel-size shampoo
Conditioner
Lotion
Bar soap
Deodorant
Razors
Sunscreen
Body wash

If you’re able to pick up a few extra items while you shop, we’d be so grateful for your support. Every donation helps TCCC continue providing practical, compassionate care to people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in our community. 💙

💙 “It gave them a sense that they were important, that they matter, that people care about them.”

We’re grateful to the Tracy Press for its coverage of last weekend’s art show and film screening at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts .

The event put the voices, creativity and experiences of some of Tracy’s unsheltered residents at the center of the conversation.

What began with TCCC volunteer Lynne Millar encouraging guests at our Mobile Shower and Laundry programs to create art and share their thoughts grew into something much bigger. Local photographer Casey Goodall joined the project, creating portraits that captured the people behind the stories — while giving participants an opportunity to be seen, heard and celebrated.

The evening also included a screening of No Address, a film depicting the realities and complexities of homelessness.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this special evening together — and to the Tracy Press for helping share its message with our community.

Because every person has a story. Every person has dignity. And every person deserves to know that they matter.

🎓 Building a Brighter Future

Stable housing creates opportunities for brighter futures.

When Client DW needed help, Tracy Community Connections Center was able to provide temporary rental assistance, giving her the stability she needed to stay focused on her goals.

Today, she's preparing to graduate from her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.

She shared that without the support she received, reaching this milestone would not have been possible - and asked us to extend her heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped along the way.

Stories like hers remind us that when we invest in stability today, we help create opportunities for tomorrow.

We’re grateful to United Way of San Joaquin County for their generous donation to Tracy Community Connections Center as part of our participation in their Medi-Cal training program.

Opportunities like this do more than strengthen our own organization. They help build the knowledge, resources, and connections nonprofits need to better serve our communities.

🔑 A New Beginning Starts with One Opportunity

Sometimes the biggest barrier to stable housing isn't monthly rent - it's the upfront cost of moving in.

When Client KR came to Tracy Community Connections Center, she was experiencing homelessness and staying with friends and family while working to save for a place of her own. Although she had a steady income, the cost of a security deposit kept permanent housing out of reach.

Working alongside her case manager, she found an apartment and, with security deposit assistance through Health Plan of San Joaquin, was able to move in.

Today, she has a safe, stable place to call home.

Stories like hers remind us that sometimes one helping hand is all it takes to open the door to a brighter future.

💙 Progress deserves to be celebrated. Purpose keeps us moving forward.

The 2026 Point-in-Time Count tells an important story.

We've seen meaningful progress in reducing homelessness among veterans, families, and youth, and the overall number of people experiencing homelessness has declined since 2024.

At the same time, the report reminds us that homelessness remains a complex challenge. Chronic homelessness increased, highlighting the continued need for long-term housing solutions, supportive services, and strong community partnerships.

At Tracy Community Connections Center, we believe both things can be true:
