Santa's Helpers is a 501.C.3 non-profit that gives middle school children with good character the opportunity to shop for their families at Christmas.

Donna Boyd, a longtime Tracy kindergarten teacher and local philanthropist, created Santa's Helpers of Tracy in 2003. Santa's Helpers is a non-profit organization that gives middle school children with outstanding character in and outside of the classroom the

opportunity to shop for their families at Christmas. All participants are nominated for the program by their principals, counselors and teachers. The children selected meet at Tracy's Target one night in December and, with the help of volunteers, shop for their families. Donna's hope was that the students chosen for Santa's Helpers will remember their experience as they transition into their teen and young adult years and continue their good character and service to the community. Donna passed away in May of 2014 following a short but courageous battle with cancer. Her children, Brianna Boyd, Jacob Boyd and Megan Filice, have taken over the program. Santa's Helpers of Tracy received its federal nonprofit status (501c3) in 2015. Following Donna's passing, many in the Tracy community and beyond made donations towards Santa's Helpers. Thanks to your generosity, Santa's Helpers will continue in Tracy for many, many years to come. There are several ways you can be a part of Santa's Helpers of Tracy:

- Volunteer to be a shopper with a child at Target in December
- Sponsor a child participating in Santa's Helpers (every child is given $20 for every family member in their house, as well as $20 to spend on themselves). On average, children spend $100-$140 while shopping for their families.
- Partially sponsor a child participating in Santa's Helpers. Whether you can donate $10 or $100, every amount is appreciated. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of Tracy's children.

The 21st annual Santa's Helpers of Tracy shopping night Thursday was a great success!

We still buzzing from the energy and love that was in Tracy Target tonight as our deserving students shopped for gifts for their families with an incredible team of volunteers.

We love that we have the chance to talk to the kids (and adults too!) about the gifts they picked out and how much we admire and appreciate their kindness and good hearts. Our Santa’s Helpers kids come from many backgrounds but what brings them together is their good character and kind hearts. They are all nominated for this program by their teachers, principals, and counselors. Many of those school staff were volunteering to take their students around Target for the night, making this experience even more special for them.

Our mom Donna started this program in 2004. We’ve been carrying it on since 2014. The community that has been built around Santa’s Helpers is truly inspiring. The staff at our schools put so much care and thought into their nominations. They truly bring us the ‘best of the best’. In addition to school staff, we have community members who have been volunteering with us for five or ten years, or more! We could not do this program every year without this community.

There are so many people and individuals to thank. Tracy Kiwanis Club, Tracy Breakfast Lions and Tracy Target all contributed to our 2025 program. Thank you to our mom’s dear friend Rechelle Pearlman who assists us every year with preparation and registration (and her family volunteers as shoppers!). Thank you to the administrators and staff at all our participating schools - Monte Vista, Williams, Freiler, Kelly, North, Poet, Banta, and Central and Hirsch, the elementary schools where our mom taught kindergarten. Thank you to all our volunteers from San Joaquin County Office of Education. Thank you to all the retired educators who join us, and the community members who come back year after year. Our Santa’s Helpers community is as strong as it is today because of all of you. We know our mom watches over this program every year with pride, seeing how together, we have created something so very special.

Thank you Tracy Kiwanis Club for your many years of support (10+ now!) for Santa’s Helpers of Tracy.

We will be honoring our 40 middle school students with a holiday shopping experience next week. All students are nominated by their principals and teachers and are being recognized for their outstanding character. We could not do this program each year without the support of our community and wonderful people and organizations like Kiwanis Club. Thank you so very much!
