I met a fellow shipmate who wants to start a Christmas Toy Bicycle Ride (1st annual) and wants to establish here, in The Woodlands/area. He is a former Naval Officer from San Diego. He came to Texas 4 yrs ago. He was on the board of San Diego Bicycle Club, and had established an annual Christmas Toy Ride, that had been going on for 50 years. Attached are few pics to give you an idea of how big this event could eventually become. He had about 300+ riders in San Diego.
The purpose of this ride was to bring unwrapped toys for the less fortunate in our community. The Ride is about 50 miles round trip. They ride with Santa and reindeers at the front, to the Center. Then drop off the toys and have coffee & snacks with all the volunteers. A group pic scheduled to be taken while at the Toy Distribution Center in Conroe.
A route is already drawn up in the Woodlands. We are excited for this collaboration between the Marine Toys for Tots of Montgomery County and group of bicyclists. Stay tune for more info. 🚲 🧸
