Congratulations to four of our prevention partners on receiving the SAMHSA Partnership for Success (PFS) grant! 🎉

Empower Somerset, Cape Assist, Prevention is Key, and Partners in Prevention have each been awarded federal funding to strengthen community-based substance use prevention services across New Jersey.

This kind of investment in local prevention work matters and we're proud to work alongside organizations doing this work every day. Congrats!!

International Overdose Awareness Day is a reminder to honor those we have lost as the individuals they were, and to recommit to a future where fewer families have to carry that grief.

In 2025, 1,312 people in New Jersey died from drug overdoses. While that represents a 27% decline from 2024, each of those lives carried a weight and a story that no number can capture.

Every number represents an individual; someone with a name, a story, people who loved them, things that made them laugh, hopes they carried, and a life that mattered. We honor each person we have lost to overdose not simply as part of a count, but as a member of our families, our communities, and our collective story.

NJPN remains committed to supporting the prevention specialists, clinicians, peer recovery professionals, families, and communities doing this work every day. 💜

We are excited to welcome Tara Moreno-Wallen of GreenTara Holistics to the 2026 NJPN Peer Recovery Support Summit as both a presenter and the Wellness Booth host 💚

During the afternoon break, Tara will be hosting the Beads & Seeds Wellness Booth in the Atlantic Room (SLC 105) from 12:30–1:15pm. Stop by for an introduction to Acudetox — an ear acupressure practice using small adhesive seeds and beads that you can use throughout the day as a grounding and relaxation tool.

It's a great opportunity to learn about holistic approaches that support well-being and connect with someone doing meaningful work in this space.

Yesterday, NJPN had a great morning with our Regional Coalitions to discuss some emerging substance use trends and policy updates.

Deputy Attorney General Anthony Strangia from the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control walked us through ABC's role in New Jersey and where alcohol licensing currently stands. Elizabeth Pasqual from DEA research laboratories followed with an overview of kratom, why it matters right now, and what DEA findings show about kratom being synthesized into products sold to the public.

Thank you to the ABC & DEA for sharing these insights with NJPN and New Jersey's prevention workforce 🌱
