This Saturday, October 24th is DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. 💊

If you have unused or expired medications at home, this is a safe, free, and anonymous way to dispose of them properly. Since 2010, Take Back Day has helped Americans remove more than twenty million pounds of unneeded medications from their homes.

Visit https://hubs.li/Q04BVZ7_0 to find a registered collection site near you. Drop-off runs from 10AM to 2PM. If you cannot make it this Saturday, there are more than 15,300 pharmacies, hospitals, and businesses that offer safe medication disposal year-round.

Keeping unused medications out of our homes and communities is one of the simplest things we can do to support prevention. Pass this message along with your network. 💚

🎉 We're proud to share that New Jersey Prevention Network has been awarded funding through the New Jersey Rural Health Transformation Program, an initiative focused on advancing technology, prevention, and workforce capacity in rural New Jersey.

Thank you to the NJ Department of Health for this opportunity and for their continued investment in rural health across our state.

This funding supports two projects serving rural communities across Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Hunterdon, Salem, Sussex, Warren and portions of Burlington, Mercer, Monmouth, and Ocean Counties.

🔹 Enhancing Health & Social Support Access, connecting residents to health and social support resources through a Prevention Hub Warmline and a new online tool, https://hubs.li/Q04zlGtC0, where anyone can search for local resources by zip code.

🔹 Rural Behavioral Health Workforce Training and Capacity Building, a program to strengthen the knowledge and skills of the addiction and behavioral health workforce serving rural communities across the state.

Both projects reflect NJPN's ongoing commitment to expanding access and building capacity where it's needed most.

Dr. Victoria Nagel represented NJPN at the North Atlantic Region Association for Counselor Education and Supervision conference last week, presenting her poster on transforming language in addiction counseling to reduce stigma and align with CACREP 2024 Standards.

Person-first language is at the core of how we approach workforce development at NJPN and it was great to see that work shared with counselor educators and supervisors at this level.

Proud of Dr. Nagel for bringing this conversation to the field. 💚
