Bill Bodei has been growing orchids with his wife Deb since 2009. Over the years their collection expanded, swelling to more than 1,500 orchids, spanning from Angraecum to Zygopetalum and everything in between. Where Bill looks after infrastructure and culture, Deb, an American Orchid Society Accredited Judge, is the family expert on taxonomy, parentage and plant quality. Bill is the current President of Deep Cut Orchid Society. His volunteering also includes serving on the American Orchid Society Board of Trustees for two consecutive 3-year terms from concluding in 2023. Appointed to chair a newly formed Marketing committee in 2017, Bill received the AOS President's award in 2020, as he helped the AOS manage through the pandemic with a number of programs and initiatives. Bill was behind modernization projects like the AOS Digital Membership Cards, The Orchid Marketplace, The Orchid DealWire, and led his team to take on moderation of the AOS Facebook group growing to more than 250,000 members. The Bodei's reside in Middletown, NJ with their precocious Rottweiler, Vanda.
