We are a private, non-profit humane society serving the Thomasville community and Southwest Georgia as a "limited admission" shelter, focusing on animals in need of owner surrender. We adopt animals, provide medical care for newly adopted pets, and provide low cost sterilization services with the "Wellness Waggin," our mobile veterinary bus. Like all humane societies and SPCAs, we are independent and are not affiliated with, nor do we receive regular funding from, any national animal welfare organizations or advocacy groups. Your interest in the welfare of the lost, homeless, abused, and abandoned pets in our community is greatly appreciated and vital to our continued success. Only financial support received locally will ensure our future and allow us to continue to care for the 4,000 animals per year that come through our doors. Your continued support means the world to us! We work hard to be the area’s leading advocate for animal welfare. Please help us continue to help them with your financial support!

Another week of happy endings! We're so excited for these pets and the families who welcomed them home. Every adoption is a life changed, and we're so grateful to everyone who continues to choose adoption and support our mission.

Long ears. Short legs. One very impressive résumé. Meet Todd! 💙🐾

At just 11 months old, this handsome Jack Russell/Basset Hound mix has already lived in a home and learned some important skills. Todd is house-trained, good with children, and gets along well with other dogs!

He is vaccinated, microchipped, and scheduled to be neutered this Friday. Todd is available for adoption now and can go home Friday afternoon once he has been medically cleared following his procedure.

If you’re hoping for a young dog who already understands home life and happens to come with the cutest little legs and floppy ears, Todd may be your perfect match!

Hey, boo! Maximilian has been waiting since May for someone to finally choose him. 🧡

A little bit about him:
🐾 Around 5½ years old
🐾 Good with children
🐾 Good with other dogs
🐾 Listens well
🐾 Walks nicely on a leash
🐾 Loves playing with and chasing his ball

Maximilian truly is an all-around good dog who would make a wonderful addition to the right family. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for a serious, lifelong commitment.

Meet the Team Monday! 💙🦎

Our Thomasville Humane family has grown by four little legs and a whole lot of scales! Everyone, meet MEATLUG! 🐉

Meatlug is a 5-year-old bearded dragon who joined our family a few weeks ago. Named after the lovable dragon from How to Train Your Dragon, he's been settling into life at TH, getting to know his new coworkers, and making himself right at home.

His favorite foods include lettuce, Dubia roaches, hornworms, and superworms. Not exactly what the rest of our staff has for lunch, but we won't judge! 😂

While Meatlug isn't available for adoption, he's already found his forever home with us! We're so happy to have him as a permanent member of our team and can't wait for our community to get to know him, too. 💙

This is the face Iris makes when you haven’t realized you’re supposed to be petting her yet. 😂💙

At 3 years old, Iris is an affectionate, gentle girl whose love language is definitely physical touch. She seeks out cuddles, enjoys being petted, and will happily give you one of her signature silly looks while she waits for you to come love on her.

Iris has a friendly, laid-back personality and gets along well with other dogs. She would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet girl who wants to stay close, soak up affection, and simply enjoy life beside her person.

Along with those unforgettable eyes and enormous ears, Iris comes spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home!

Come meet Iris at Thomasville Humane and give her the cuddles she has been waiting for. Just be warned: once she gives you that look, saying no may be impossible. 🐾

We are sad to announce that due to anticipated weather conditions, tomorrow’s Clays for Strays event has been canceled. The safety of our participants, volunteers, staff, and community must come first.

🚨 IMPORTANT CLAYS FOR STRAYS UPDATE 🚨

Please note our updated event schedule for this Saturday, October 10:

🎯 Registration opens at 10:00 a.m.
🎯 Shooting begins at 10:30 a.m.

Clays for Strays will take place rain or shine at Southwind Sporting Clays & Quail in Quitman!

Registered shooters should check their email today for complete Know Before You Go information. Please share this update with everyone on your team so they are aware of the new times.

There’s still time to join us! Four-person teams and individual shooters are welcome. Advance registration is encouraged at thomasvillehumane.org/clays, but day-of registration will also be available beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Hi, I’m Piper, and I’m looking for someone who enjoys stopping to smell the roses. 💙🐾

I’m a sweet, gentle girl who prefers leisurely walks over intense adventures. I know basic commands, walk very nicely on a leash, and would be happiest in a low- to medium-energy home.

I’m good with children and can get along with other dogs, but I prefer friends who aren’t too pushy or hyper. I’m more interested in calm companionship than nonstop wrestling!

If you’re searching for a well-mannered dog who will be happy enjoying life by your side, please come meet me at Thomasville Humane.

Creating Impact Every Day doesn’t always mean big numbers. Sometimes, it looks like one dog walking out the door with a family of their own, one cat settling into a new home, or one more shelter pet getting the chance they’ve been waiting for.
